Big news from Amber and Wiz, plus Fat Joe tags up Lil’ Wayne’s crib after the jump…
Amber Rose instagram’d a new ring… and then Wiz tweeted “She said Yes!!!,” while Rose responded, “He has made me the Happiest Woman in the World!!!!”
Congrats to the love bird!
Bonus: V Exclusive! Amber Rose Talks About Her “Dream Wedding”
Before Fat Joe was rapping with Big Pun, he was just another b-boy from the BX. Recently, he got to flex his old skills at Weezy’s crib. The YMCMB boss commissioned Joe for some Crack graffiti at his Miami home.
(UPDATED): A bit skeptical aabout marking up Weezy’s million dollar walls with the word “Crack” at first, Fat Joe talked about his experience at Wayne’s home with XXL.
“I live down the block, across the street from him and yesterday, the nigga called me up and said, ‘Please, Joe, it would be an honor if you do a TS Joey Crack piece in my house.’ Never in my life [have I done graffiti in someone’s house]. I tried to talk him out of it like, ‘Wayne, forreal, you have a gazillion dollar mansion…please don’t do this.’ He was like, ‘Nah, Crack, I got a spot right there for you.’ I was like, ‘Wayne…why?’ He said, ‘Crack, we need it.’
I was a little rusty, I can’t front, I was rusty, but it was almost like riding a bike…once you’re half way through, it’s like, ‘Oh shit, I got this.’ That shit came out right, though. I’m proud of that shit.’
He got ramps on his ceiling and all that shit. Yeah, he’s doing that to the highest level. I was there and he was building a fucking skateboard. He was like, ‘Yo Crack, you got to put this here.’ He found a new love, something he loves to do and that’s dope. He’s living and drinking and eating the skateboarding shit.”

Damn Wiz, you’re like 23 years old bro, with a 20 million dollars in your bank. Please, be careful. Celebrity marriages don’t last. Wiz is a great person, just don’t see them aging gracefully together, unless perhaps they are the younger generations new Ice T and CoCo

Nicki’s album cover reminds me of the “In Living Color” intro.

Did you really just have the audacity to label that trash “One of the MOST Anticipated Hip Hop albums of 2012″????? REALLY?!?!?! GDFOH with that nonsense! Pop, R&B, whatever else you wanna call that TRASH, fine! But how dare you or anyone else EVER again label that plastic bitch Hip Hop! And you all wonder why the art is DYING right in front of our very eyes? At least Joey Crack be keeping it real!

Nicki’s cover looks like my daughter finger painted on her face. First thing I thought about was Homie Da Clown. LOL Damn, I can’t believe how white she looks these days. She’s trying to take Michael Jackson’s spot with all that damn blond hair and makeup. The font type and colors look like the back of Dancehall flyer.
Fat Joe was and still is a “toy” when it comes to throwing up pieces. That sh*t is garbage. GTFOH! He was NEVER regarded as a graf artist EVER. LOL

Minaj trying to ride the “high-culture” game with her album cover – I bet the brief was:
I want Rothko splatters, and Bowie’s lightening bolt face paint but more like a thunder storm, and like, I still wanna be a Barb, and like, I want hundreds and thousands, and marshmallows, and more pink here, and here, and there, and here…
For an album that apparently is so anticipated, she certainly made sure to test people’s stomachs with that vomit inducing cover.
What happened to the classic, iconic covers of the 90s – Mary J Blige’s My Life or Share my World – Dre’s Chronic – B.I.G’s Ready to Die – NAS and his entire portraiture catalogue from street kid to man, to Pharoah to monk.
VIBE magazine really pushed hip hop to the forefront too, and music videos may have had high budgets back then too – but more importantly, they had daring new visual concepts – Busta, Missy, Aaliyah, Dre, all had signature visuals and ‘brands.’
Now artist’s have major money – they just jump on other fashion labels and pop culture trends, it’s a damn shame. It’s more than the music that sold out, it’s the artistic movement that backed our music and culture up too.
Kanye said it best:
“We took that shit, measured it and then cooked that shit
And what we gave back was crack music
And now we ooze it through they nooks and crannies
So our mammas aint got to be they cooks and nannies
And we gonna repo everything they ever took from grammy
Now the former slaves trade hooks for grammies
This dark diction has become America’s addiction those who ain’t even black use it.”
That soft-more album left more of a cultural legacy than any other contemporary hip hop artist since, because he talked about real problems our community still suffering under today beyond the bullets, booties and drug runs – so I ain’t even mad on his career tangent now because I just see it as honoring the verse in this track.
Every other artist on a similar flex though? They don’t appear to have any intelligent backing behind their actions – and that’s why I don’t appreciate their product lines and explorations inside and outside the music game. They just got high off their own culture’s supply.
We may have a man in the Presidential Throne, and rapper’s talking about Thrones, but our PEOPLE still polishing and spit shining it for the man. How are these brothers and sisters who hold an audience of millions around the world finally gonna shine a spotlight on the real rawness that’s plagued Black America since slavery, civil rights to now? Not saying we need handouts but the hypocrisy and ignorance of our plight gone on too too long.
Damn.
