Lame. Baseball players didn’t start making ridiculous amounts of money until free agency kicked in in the late 70s. Explain Yankee dominance before that. Explain why they haven’t won in the last nine years (despite having the highest payroll) and explain why the Mets, with the 2nd highest payroll, haven’t done sh!t in like forever.

PS, he’s not a true Yankee fan if he doesn’t understand the Boston thing.

princerudynasim you do realize that Mr Steinbrenner is not the riches owner in MLB? Some owners are worth way more such as the Twins owner, But Mr Steinbrenner puts back way more money into his team. Why can’t these other team do it?

oh boy…ok , this is my 2 cents…first , we had like 8 home grown players on the team. second , when George bought the team it was his product , and when u have a product , if u want it to do well , you should invest in it. develop the players add pieces that you feel are missing , and it is a game and like herm edwards said , you play to win the game. you may not always win but the point is to tey your danmdest. that being said , yankees have won 40 penents and only won 27 of the world series. we had the wost play off loss in 2004 vs our arch rival. this win feels great because we beat the defending world champs. and to be honest , we’ll only celebrate till the first pitch of the 2010 season cuz then every one starts at the same point. 0-0. thank you and good night.

If it was just about the Yanks having money they would win the World Series every year. The NFL has a cap and the same 6-10 teams are the best teams every year. Its not about money, its how you manage your team.

It’s not the fault of a mega metro city that they have more $$$ to spend. And that still doesn’t explain then why we haven’t won in so many yrs. The winning stopped while we gave away the future for over aged/over priced players….perfect example Randy Johnson

Now is it fair?Technically no. But spending the most money isn’t a guarantee of championships.

This is officially the last time I watch this nerd’s comments. The Yankees have the money to spend on their roster and do. The mayor, a self made billionaire, has the money to spend on his campaign and did. Regardless of your salary cap or how much money is put into your campaign; you still gotta win. The Phillies couldn’t handle Matsui in the end and lazy Democrats (I’m independent) didn’t get out to vote for Thompson. Coulda, Shoulda, Woulda.
