LOL! Jsmooth contends that for the Yankees and the Yankee fans…sore winning is a Empire State of Mind.

(PS: I know alot of people feel the Yankees buy their way to wins, but I don’t think we can take away from their hard work too. Working hard in a mink suit, is still working ; )

That “Yankee’s buy wins” logic has always been funny to me. I ask people if that was the case where are our championships over the past 6,7,8 yrs? Cano,Jaba,Jeter,Hughes just to name a few are all products of the Farm system. Plus there’s no cap on the other teams so it’s on them to spend what they want/need.
But Anyway, Jsmooth drops another gem.

ok dude where do i start. 1)The farm system- Im glad you mentioned Jeter but how long has it been since jeter has been out of the farm system?? he is not even worth mentioning in that arguement. You mentioned Jaba!! that man finished the season 9-6 with a 4.75 era & 1.54 whip which all suck. Jaba has potential but not someone who is going to win you a chip now. Phil Huges was good in relief but sucked as a starter which is what they wanted him in. The only one has been Cano.

No they cant!!! their is no chance in this world the the Kansas city Royals can spend what the yankees can!!! We are the capital of the world and our population is bigger than any city in the nation let alone the fact that we make more money than any other city in the US. Look up what are the avg. ticket prices at a kansas city game compare to NY!! kansas city cant compete because people dont earn as much let alone that staten islands population alone is probably greater than theirs!!! The Dallas cowboys who were the Yanks of football havent won once since the NFL put the salary cap on!

It’s not the fault of a mega metro city that they have more $$$ to spend. And that still doesn’t explain then why we haven’t won in so many yrs. The winning stopped while we gave away the future for over aged/over priced players….perfect example Randy Johnson
Now is it fair?Technically no. But spending the most money isn’t a guarantee of championships.

what i dont understand about the yankees having money issue is I thought thats what money is for. Plenty of teams with no money have won. The yankees have become the richest team by winning , we did not start of rich. Of course this city is going to brag and gloat because were the richest team from winning and from our great fans in the city. This is only a good thing for the city becuase it brings more people together.

eh mink suit or not the victory was still kinda cheap and meaningless. I like Jeter he actually took a pay cut to stay a Yankee. Outside of that, Enjoy your championship. You might as well, you paid enough for it. I hope the Lakers don’t win again this year because sports needs balance and if all it takes is having a bigger payroll why even compete. smh

This is officially the last time I watch this nerd’s comments. The Yankees have the money to spend on their roster and do. The mayor, a self made billionaire, has the money to spend on his campaign and did. Regardless of your salary cap or how much money is put into your campaign; you still gotta win. The Phillies couldn’t handle Matsui in the end and lazy Democrats (I’m independent) didn’t get out to vote for Thompson. Coulda, Shoulda, Woulda. This nerd, I guess born black and looks white, caught a lot of wedgies in his days. He always gotta make this a race thing and its not. It’s an American thing. Feel free to beat it nerd. F*ck Boston.

If it was just about the Yanks having money they would win the World Series every year. The NFL has a cap and the same 6-10 teams are the best teams every year. Its not about money, its how you manage your team.

oh boy…ok , this is my 2 cents…first , we had like 8 home grown players on the team. second , when George bought the team it was his product , and when u have a product , if u want it to do well , you should invest in it. develop the players add pieces that you feel are missing , and it is a game and like herm edwards said , you play to win the game. you may not always win but the point is to tey your danmdest. that being said , yankees have won 40 penents and only won 27 of the world series. we had the wost play off loss in 2004 vs our arch rival. this win feels great because we beat the defending world champs. and to be honest , we’ll only celebrate till the first pitch of the 2010 season cuz then every one starts at the same point. 0-0. thank you and good night.

princerudynasim you do realize that Mr Steinbrenner is not the riches owner in MLB? Some owners are worth way more such as the Twins owner, But Mr Steinbrenner puts back way more money into his team. Why can’t these other team do it?

Lame. Baseball players didn’t start making ridiculous amounts of money until free agency kicked in in the late 70s. Explain Yankee dominance before that. Explain why they haven’t won in the last nine years (despite having the highest payroll) and explain why the Mets, with the 2nd highest payroll, haven’t done sh!t in like forever.
PS, he’s not a true Yankee fan if he doesn’t understand the Boston thing.
