Lil Wayne Thanks Fans For Well Wishes, But Insiders Confirm The Health Scare Was Real
Posted by Andy B. under Good For Hip Hop , Life Beyond Rap , Quotes[39] Comments
Miss Info: So, the most important thing is that, as Birdman, Mack Maine and others have confirmed, Lil Wayne is doing “fine.” But honestly, before you dismiss the TMZ story (which is still up, interestingly enough) as complete bs….I’ve had more than one insider confirm that Wayne did suffer another round of seizures, serious ones, at that. And while he’s conscious, he’s not feeling dandy like nothing happened. He’s in the hospital for the second time in 3 days. This man is clearly having a health crisis. And an intervention seems like a crucial step…Yes. Intervention.
There’s always been drug fetishism in hip hop, but usually on the commerce side, and the hustlers’ lifestyle. Now it’s all about user glamour. And just like we’ve had “wake up calls” (however fleeting) about violence in hip hop, and promiscuity in hip hop, and obesity in hip hop…the drug problems that have plagued Hollywood, rock, pop, and art….are hanging over some of us too. Like a guillotine.
Not to be preachy. We all have to choose our own path.
UPDATE: TMZ now reports that Lil Wayne remains in intensive care at Cedars-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles. Apparently Weezy’s condition hasn’t improved and he continues to be monitored closely by doctors.
To avoid any confusion in this still-developing story, read Lil Wayne and Birdman’s latest tweets after the jump…
I’m good everybody. Thx for the prayers and love.

I agree with Info that the drug issues need to be addressed in Hip Hop.
Of course we know rappers have been taking drugs for years and various little mentions in songs but now a days they glorify pill popping, all the molly references and to top it off we all know there is mixing going on too. So somebody sipping lean, popping pills and drinking liquor is really pushing it. Maybe even a little coke too? You just took it too far.
I don’t care who does it and is still doing fine, everybody’s tolerance is different but that shit is NOT safe.
This is not weed we are talking about… All this other shit isn’t some joke.
Everybody is free to choose their own path but everybody should have people around them that love and care for them enough to let them know when they are wildin.
Remember when people in Wayne’s camp thought he needed to put the cup down? Where are those people now?

I been saying he was gonna die on od. Not breathing like they found mike. Sry. His choice.

CNN reported that Drake has a vigil setup outside wayne’s room. somebody is lying and i think it’s Baby & Mack Maine why would both CNN & TMZ (credible sources) make up these things?
March 16th, 2013 at 1:21 am
i like the new look MISSINFO…i pray and hope Wayne recovers from this health scare…But, I have a question, has he apologize for what he said about Emit Till (a civil rights martyr) in the remix to Future song “Karate Chop”…..
March 16th, 2013 at 1:21 am
TMZ has yet to retract their story and now CNN is reporting that Drake and others are holding a vigil. Are they lying too? I don’t know who your sources are, but it doesn’t appear as if his team is being truthful.
We know Wayne didn’t write those tweets so I don’t understand why you’d include them.

I refuse to sympathize with this dude… He is a loser and a druggy. Lets just keep that 100% he’s the kind of person most sane and normal people shy away from.
Add in the money, women, babies and things this idiot says. And well its just hard to feel bad for him. I wish him no ill will but I feel no sympathy at all. Its self induced and he needs to choose life. His kids are the real victims in this when they lose a father and provider to drugs. That in and of itself should be enough to get him acting right.

Super well written post. Couldnt have said it any better. Hope something good does come out of this for Wayne and the all the music listeners

nah, he has yet to. fool dont give a fuck about who he offended with that.
March 16th, 2013 at 1:52 pm
For a site like TMZ, which is getting more mainstream RESPECT worldwide on a daily basis mind you(!!!) to still keep their story up a full day later shows you they are not playing & they are not backing down with what they say REALLY happened. The lawsuits that could come from this IF they were lying would be astronomical & they KNOW this, so for them to keep it up shows you they are a credible source on this & Wayne’s handlers are playing themselves! How is anyone on earth who is in an ICU able to tweet? GTFOH! The same people talking ish about TMZ are the same cats who look a blind eye to Wayne’s drug issues & will watch him die if they don’t snap the F$%^ out of it & help this dude!
March 16th, 2013 at 2:21 pm
Doesn’t his PO do random drug tests?
if he survives this…it will not be a wake up call….he will think his invincible and the “recovery/relapse” record that will go plat won’t help either…

Best way to dead a story is to tweet a picture from the hospital, that hasn’t happened yet
I was initially skeptical about the TMZ story but when sources such as MTV put the word reoovering in brackets you know something’s up.
Look at it this way, Wayne is the biggest artist on the label, new album coming up, sponsers, advertisers, merchandising, alot of money put up, you dont want to scare them away.
The reaction was alittle over the top, especially Mack Maine tweeting about watching the Syracuse game.
Like I said with everything riding on this, a simple picture would have deadened the story. That and the fact if the “rumours” were so crazy as according to Birdman, he would have got the lawyers on it quickly, the story is still up on the website.
March 16th, 2013 at 4:54 pm
I agree with most of the folks above about the validity of the TMZ story. Its pretty clear from the story still being up, him being in the ICU, people flying in to be by his bedside, and shady tweets supposedly from Weezy while he is asleep, that there is a shady cover up of details from one side or the other. No matter who is being truthful, the implications of attempts to keep real, fact-based info out there, conflicting reports, and also no pictures or verbal statements, show that something incredibly serious is going on. I keep looking online for info and/or good news, but other than TMZ, it is quiet as a mouse. Very suspect indeed…..

“User Glamour” That’s been Wayne M.O since his raise to solo stardom. He takes ricky behavior that regular folk do and via the aid of excess money and fame presents none of the ill’s of these lifestyles to an open and impressionable market.
He is the king of this. The Hip Hop rock drug lifestyle, gang banging, the misogyny, everything that a kid would think is cool rolled into one lil rapping machine w/o any ill effects.
Only problem is bloods get killed or locked up. Sloppy sex lives = STD’s and drugs = destruction of health. Without that balance you’re lying to the people.
I wish no ill on any man but we are who we chose to be…..
March 16th, 2013 at 5:03 pm
TRUE. From someone who has dealt with substance abuse himself, and pretty much done all the drugs glorified in rap, I would have to say its ludicrous that this sh*t gets talked about like its cool. It’s really not, and drugs-such as alcohol-are just substitutes for dealing with the real problems. We can take something to feel better or have fun, but its more than possible to feel even better SOBER. Health truly is wealth.
However, like Miss Info was saying, each person has their own path, and sometimes it takes doing some things, and messing up really bad, before the actions finally change.
I was shown God’s grace in my own life and pray the same for Wayne or anyone else struggling with addiction. It’s not as easy as just stopping, and insensitive comments and jokes about the situation, only show someone’s lack of understanding, ignorance, and being unable to relate with some really hard sh*t
March 16th, 2013 at 9:56 pm
Might help if dude slows down. This “grind till you fall” lifestyle these rappers endorse – no sleep, terrible diet, drinking and (for some) drugs – is a sure recipe for disease, illness and early death. Bill Gates isn’t trying to work 20 hours a day and he’s richer than all these guys combined. Learn to delegate…
March 17th, 2013 at 12:06 am
Glad you were able to get over your situation and share your testimony here.
I completely agree with you that insensitive comments and jokes do show a lack of understanding, a bit of ignorance and being unable to relate with some really hard shit.
I hope I didn’t come off as insensitive.
I am really just fed up with the way being a junkie seems to be glorified in Hip Hop right now.
You shared that sometimes it takes something really bad happening before someone can change. This is true but let’s be honest here, especially these artists who are performing and touring, they should know by now that we have lost enough artists to the senselessness already.
Hopefully this is a wake up call for Wayne and anybody else leading a similar lifestyle.
March 17th, 2013 at 12:12 am
I appreciated this post because its really true.

These rappers don’t want WEEZY to die. Because then he will become the number one selling artist…
March 18th, 2013 at 3:54 pm
now since hes been in the hospital .. all the kats that been dissing him for couple of yrs gonna hop back on the bangwagon …. like jay say .. they dont really give you props until you dead and gone …
March 19th, 2013 at 12:07 pm
I love it when Hip Hop bloggers chime in with lip service to these issues, even though it’s the same shit they promote. L-A-M-E pretty much sums it up. Whatever though, not to be preachy. LOL!
