People Lil Wayne

Lil’ Wayne loves the kids, and he loves to skate. So in a partnership with Mountain Dew and Glu Agency, Wayne officially opened the Trukstop skate park in the Lower 9th Ward of New Orleans–an area that was left devastated by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Fellow skateboaders won’t have to worry about limitations as the park is open to the public seven days a week. Weezy speaks with the The Associated Press on taking up the hobby of skateboarding and the reason he opened the park:

“I thought it would be just a hobby, and I thought only people with skills can do it. When you finally get into it and you learn to like it, you’ll quickly learn to love it. It’s more than just four wheels and a piece of wood. I just want to help out my city, help out the people and the kids, give them something to do, something they haven’t done before. It’s always good to learn something new.”
