Lil Wayne Makes His Grand Entrance at SXSW 2012 #DeWeezy
Posted by Mikey Fresh under Videos[9] Comments
“Jay-Z the first night, Kanye last night and Weezy on Thursday.” These aren’t lyrics from Ye’s next song, but the acts that I’ve been experiencing since arriving in Austin. Things have changed so much at SXSW. Last year, it was all about seeing Odd Future and Lil B, 12 months later and all of rap’s top dogs have to show face in some sort of form. Think about it… (almost forgot Rick Ross and MMG on Thursday, too)
Now, feast your eyes on Lil Wayne bringing a whole other wave of energy to Texas. Thanks to Mountain Dew and their new DeWeezy campaign with Lil Wayne, lucky festival goers were treated to an electrifying performance by The Martian. Watch Weezy kick things off above.

I wonder if the irrelevant guy thats going to close the show tonight will get as much coverage on here as Jazzy and the rest of the show… live blog, stream love etc? doubt it hahahah because in the internet world he’s irrelevant but in real life he’s still very much a factor and has a strong following..

Delusional 50 stans
You want to talk about real life, okay where are Girls Gone Wild, I’m On It, or Wait Until Tonight on the billboard charts? When is he getting a release date for the album he’s been saying is coming soon for 2 years now…sporadically crying on twitter because Interscope can’t be bother to allow him to drop it, knowing it’s going to flop? When’s the last time he’s had a successful national tour? The last one in support of BISD he was struggling half fill 2,000 max capacity small venues.
In “real life” he’s done holmes…irrelevant, it’s not 2004 anymore.Fif’s flabby and sick

LOL why you got to ether that man like that. Let him think the internet world is hating on 50 cent for no reason. Cause they are out to get him, cause he isn’t part of the Illuminati, cause he is too real…
People are not checking for 50 cent in real life and the internet life, those are just the facts.
Only time I hear 50 on the radio is when he is jumping on an already hot song or a feature

Well that was a grand entrance… I’ve seen bigger entrances when my overweight stepmum walks into the room

hahahahah Yeah that was a cute rant but void of truth.. He hasnt toured in the states but almost every summer he sells out arenas overseas for full tours so what the fuck are you talking about?? Diid you know that 50 Cent makes more money touring Europe than any other rap act? Not Beyonce Husband, Not Wayne, 50 CENT!! I’m not sure why he dont tour here but I’m sure if he decided to that shit would still sellout! Because concert goers go for the event not because they like or dislike someone which is why Mc Hammer sold out the fucking staple center last week..
All the songs you listed were dope and if Drake dropped girls gone wild that shit would be in heavy rotation.. Lets be clear internet is to blame for 50’s failure not the quality of the music.. People are playing what they are being told to play by the label runners who are puching these tracks thats why radio sounds like a cash money/ rick ross album and nothing more.. What 2 Chains record is in heavy rotation on the radio? Its cute that you reallly think in your heart that the people dont want to hear it thats why its not being played because the truth of the matter is that 50’s pissed of Jimmy Iovine and Dre so much that they dont want him played and thats why its not getting air time.. Jimmy was the same guy who had that trash ass Wale record spinning back in the day… And The Great Dr. Dre is the same guy who had issues with NWA, Tupac, didnt talk to Snoop for 10yrs and now he’s clashing with 50? Really? O wait we have to ignore the truth and go wiith what we are being told right?
50 CENT IS STILL HEADLINING THAT FUCKING SHOW EVEN IF HE ONLY DOES 10 SECONDS OF EACH TRACK HE’S LAST FOR A REASON!! ETHER THAT..

A total of 25 albums have sold 5 million or more copies in the last 10 years. Four artists have reached that plateau with two albums in this period: Eminem, 50 Cent, Taylor Swift and Josh Groban.

i enjoy a good banko rant against jay-z, but your support of 50 is shortsighted. 50 is washed up, dude. it’s not even a big deal. it happens to everyone. no one can stay big forever. jay-z doesn’t even make real music anymore. he just puts random, clever sounding words together in addition to whatever is in forbes or whatever lingo he picks up at accounting firms. basically, jay-z is washed up too. however, i do applaud 50’s highlighting of the myriad problems in africa.
50 got big during the peak of eminem’s career: early 2000/2001. 50 also got big at the tiniest window available in history before downloading exploded. at that time, cd burners were still very expensive; morpheus was brand new; napster was dead or dying; and most people just weren’t onto file-sharing yet. imo, the ipod brought it all to light, and finally murdered the music industry. how ironic. lol.
in any event, we’re at a–what 4th or 5th music industry paradigm shift? meaning, torrents are kind of dying off, and the justice department is clipping off and prosecuting many big websites which house or provide indirect access to illegally obtained, copyrighted content.
gut it’s still too late for rap, imo.
once hipsters are your primary fan-base then you know it’s essentially over, and your riding on fumes.
