Lady Gaga says: Kanye West and I mutually canceled Fame Kills tour…(oh, really?)
Posted by Miss Info under beef , concerts , hmmm....? , not good for hip hop , quotes[41] Comments

(Amber Rose, Kanye West, and Lady Gaga at the VMA pre-swift-gate red carpet)
Lady Gaga attended a Billboard Magazine event and said that she and Kanye agreed to cancel their Fame Kills tour together….hmmm:
“It was a mutual decision… Kanye’s going to take some time off. But the good news is that I’m going on tour in a few weeks.**“
Lori Ann Gibson, Gaga’s longtime choreographer who was working on moves for the shows with the singer, claimed on her Twitter feed that “creative differences” between the Gaga and West led to the tour’s abrupt demise.” (source Billboard)
So….wait a tootin’ tarnation minute….During a previous interview on San Diego’s Star94 FM, Gaga said that when she finished the Fame Kills tour in January 2010, she would be heading right back out on another world tour in March 2010.
But now, Gaga is going “on tour in a few weeks“? Well, the cancelled tour was due to start “in a few weeks.” Will they use the same dates/venues routed for the Fame Kills or switch the venues to smaller ones? And….if I do the math (add the 3, carry the 1)….doesn’t that just mean that Lady Gaga and Kanye West “mutually agreed” to cancel Fame Kills, so Gaga can do a smaller Fame Kills Tour without Kanye??
That’s some hocus pocus, ain’t it?
I’m not disputing the “mutual”-ness of the move, just the “cancellation” part of it ; ) As for motivating factors:
There were rumors of disagreements between Gaga’s camp and Kanye’s camp…Probably fueled by the fact that at this point in Gaga’s career, this being her peak and first world tour, her business handlers may not see the advantages of touring ‘Ye outweighing the current risk. We can clearly see the benefit from a creative standpoint, but its the hard truth in terms of pure ticket sales/album sales. Meanwhile, TMZ reports that the tour already suffered poor ticket sales, which surprised me.
Then there’s the fact that Kanye is mid-cycle album-wise. He does not have new music out right now, so this is basically the 808’s tour which should have happened earlier. But that seems easily fixable, even on the road. I’m hearing ‘Ye already has great material on tap.
And finally, there’s the post-Taylor-Swift-Gate hoopla…which has fueled rumors of rehab treatment…less so for actual substance abuse, and more just as pro-active penance for a bloodthirsty public with nothing better to worry about. *groan*
UPDATE: Gaga also told MTV News that she will not be using any of the Fame Kills stageshow elements….see after the jump
“In respects to the creative work that [Kanye and I] did together, I won’t be doing any of the things that we designed for the tour,” she explained. “It will be entirely new, and it will be just as amazing and memorable and epic”

Yeah, I find it difficult to believe that Kanye and GaGa would have a hard time selling tickets. If they were Live Nation probably would have reduced ticket prices before calling the tour off all together. I don’t belive that rehab shit ether you can’t tell me Kanye even ranks in the top 10 alcoholic/drugged up rappers in the game today. Regardless of what the reason for this is it’s probably a good thing, Ye will take this time relax and hit the studio and produce another hot Common album and then release his next project. All will be forgiven once he drops that first single.

maybe the creative differences was Gaga not wanting to neck w/ a bottle of Henny before each show?
nah i don’t know, but i’m not surprised.

I don’t believe that the ticket sales were poor. He came back for 2 extra dates in NYC. Kanye’s Glow In The Dark tour sold well so why wouldn’t this one? Lady Gaga is as in demand as Rihanna was (in addition to Lupe and N.E.R.D.) and the last tour got incredible reviews. I think Gaga’s people thought it wasn’t a good look for her and she decided to pull out. She can’t sell out arenas by herself so she’s going to do smaller venues.

yeah, the poor tix sales is weird to me…unless, Gaga fans were reluctant to pay 100+ for half Gaga half Kanye? Were the tix too $$? Do their fan bases want one or the other but not both?

Yah I just think GaGa is a little too over the top for Ye’s fanbase. They know Kanye is gonna bring it on many levels just like the Glow in the Dark tour: concept, artistry, stage show, performance, multiple hit records. Gaga portrays herself as a circus sideshow with a couple radio hits, stiff movements and wierd costumes. Two different totally energies makes the decision to buy a ticket too difficult for the average fan.

I was buying tix through the presale yesterday for Chicago. I expected it to be hard to get a ticket, but I was easily able to get tons of front row seats (not GA floor mind you) and they were asking $250/ticket before the fees. Sorry, not in this economy.

Especially not after only having to pay $50 to see Jay at MSG a month back…and for charity no less…

Can’t say I’m surprised…..funny this announcement came out less then 48-72 hrs after 50’s “The Gay Tour” comment with Angie went out. No connection just funny to me.

I can’t believe the two different fan bases not wanting to mix as much as I can’t buy the poor ticket sales. Kanye fans are diverse, it’s not like it’s Lady Gaga and Jeezy (or someone like that)
I think that Kanye really has to do his time off b/c he said he would on Jay Leno and I’ve heard more talk abt the “what abt his time off” from non-Kanye fans than “i don’t wanna spend $100″ by Kanye fans.

low ticket sales defintiely has to do with conflicting fan bases. i bought tickets to glow in the dark but i did not buy any for fame kills simply b/c i was NOT interested in watching kanye SHARE a stage with Gaga. It just wasn’t worth my money to see half of my favorite artist’ set as opposed to the whole thing.

I like them both but 296.00 for floor seats is crazy! I paid less than that to see Mary and Jay and got floor seats. They had like tix for 90 something and that was the cheapest and it was in like section 300. I don’t want to sit in 300. Plus another thing could of been kanye fans not wanting to see ga ga. I know a few people who felt like that.

Get em Miss Info. I bought tickets for Fame Kills and though I thought prices were too steep, I really didn’t care cuz I knew Kanye was gonna bring it regardless. I think low ticket sales is BS because tickets were selling out during the presale within those first few seconds that I was trying to get them (then again I was only buying the cheapest seats ($50-$60), I can’t really speak for the $100-$300 seats). It’s a completely disappointing situation regardless of why it was cancelled.

the way i see it-gaga’s fans dont wanna pay to see kanye as well and kanye’s fans dont wanna see gaga’s non hip hop ass=poor ticket sales.
plus dude fucked up with that T.S thing. the backlash isnt going away any time soon.sorry but it looks like white america is still pissed.
p.s gaga calling it the “gay tour” isnt kosher for some viewers.

what is hideous along with the paranormal activity movie trailer before the interview is those costumes and masks lady gaga be wearing sometimes(no hate)
but her and kanye sharing the same stage seemed more like a fantasy than a reality to me

Reasons why the tour was cancelled:
1. As Curtis Jackson said, it would be the Gay Tour. Not that I agree, because he said it, but they both claim to have a lot of gay influence, which may rub some the wrong way (pause)
2. Most fans of Kanye wouldn’t tell people they’re seeing a Lady Gaga show (I wouldn’t tell people at least)
3. Most of Gaga’s fanbase are the pop-tart/teenybopper crowd that is ready to lynch Kanye after the Taylor Swift thing.

1. Curtis has called Kanye gay on numerous occasions and in the past it seems Ye could give two shits about what 50 thinks about his sexuality. So why would he care now.
2. You obviously don’t listen to pop radio much nor have you been to his Glow in the Dark tour. Ye has a lot of hip-hop fans but he also has tons of fans that only listen to the hip-hop they play on pop stations.
3. In reality most of the actual people don’t care about what Ye did to Taylor Swift. It the fucking media that’s painting him so negatively. They will continue buy his records and his concert tickets. If Chris Brown and R Kelly get to stay famous after what they did Ye will be fine.

I guess that’s why the concert is still going on eh? Stick to pop radio “kofi” and the illusion of reality it brings you and “most actual people”. Smh..

Yeah, most people hate Kanye that’s why when he showed up that Common benefit concert the other day he got boo’d off stage……..oh wait he got the biggest ovation of the night. Why don’t you actually use your own brain to figure out a situation or maybe you should stick to what people want you to believe “ron”. I don’t listen to pop radio I’m just saying Kanye has a huge cross over audience which is why songs like “Love Lockdown” and “Heartless” both have over 2 million digital downloads despite the fact that the 808’s album was not really excepted by the hip-hop community the way his past projects were. His audience is not that different from GaGa’s. all your points sucked.

You do know Kanye’s Glow in the Dark tour was the second biggest hip hop tour of 09, right?

Sucks,
Im a Kanye fan and I think Gaga is pretty creative. Both artists are such great performers and really know how to put on a show. Would’ve been an entertaining concert. I had 2 GA floor tickets that totaled to about $290 so the price wasnt that bad to me, because they are two big artists. I officially got an email from ticketmaster to get my refund, but the assholes are still keeping some money for a “processing fee.”

I strongly doubt these two would have a hard time selling tickets. I was lucking enough to get my hands on two tickets for a tune to 600 bucks. Needless to say, my friends envied me. I believe the creative differences story or possibly even monetary issues.

I don’t buy it. It’s just damage control. Kanye was dumbed.
There ads running even after the Cancellation announcement. The chic did not cancelled nor did Kanye took no “break”. Powers that be pulled the plug.

It has to be a monetary issue. Just to purchase tickets for the show, you had to pay for a membership to his fan club. More money in his pocket, less in her purse.
