Kendrick Lamar’s ‘good kid, m.A.A.d city’ Set to Debut #2 on Album Charts

The hip-hop community continues to rave over Kendrick Lamar’s good kid, m.A.A.d city album, and the results are showing. The Compton MC’s debut album is set to debut #2 on the Billboard charts when the final numbers are in Wednesday morning. According to HitsDailyDouble, the project which features appearances from Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige, and Drake, will come in second with 242,122 copies sold. Any other week that would be a #1 album, unfortunately Taylor Swift’s also making history as her RED album will get top honors selling 1.2 million (1,209,817 to be exact) copies this week.

UPDATE: The final numbers are in, Billboard announces Kendrick’s debut sold 241,000 copies. Congrats again to Mr. Lamar!

I am happy for him. His album is good and something hip hop needed. However this album is not classic because it replay value wont be high for me five years from now. Again good album just not a classic.

Definetely not a classic.. average at best.. no standout tracks or big singles on it, and because of this he wont be getting much of an audience outside the US…

Even though the record hasn’t resonated with me like it has a lot of my friends, it’s great to see he put up those numbers, despite Taylor Gangbanging the billboard charts.

I 100% agree aint no classic, Andre 3000 must of bumped hes head saying this album is classic, all the way through the album doing dat stupid voice.

To me, that album is more of a cinematic experience than it is a musical one. I related to the story he was telling. Very west coast, but still relatable to any kid growing up in rough neighborhoods. It inspired me creatively.
