Kendrick Lamar

After everyone and their mother responded to Kendrick Lamar’s “Control” verse (either on wax or through interviews), now the good kid himself is taking the time to speak on his own lyrics with Big Boy on Power 106. In this short snippet of the interview dropping tomorrow, Kendrick says he didn’t know there would be this much speculation when he went into the booth. He just wanted to RAP.

“…I didn’t know there would be so much speculation, I just want to rap….I think it’s a case of maybe I should dumb down my lyrics just a little bit. The irony of that line is that the people who actually understood it and got it were the actual Kings of New York, you know, me sitting down with them this past week, and them understanding, it’s not actually about being the king of whatever coast, it’s about leaving a mark as big as BIG, as big as Pac.”

Kendrick Lamar will also be talking to Peter Rosenberg and EBRO at Hot 97 tomorrow morning to answer questions about the verse that has the whole Hip-Hop world talking. In other news, peep Big Sean’s interview with Angie Martinez where he talks about the track as well.

“That’s what it is though, it’s hip hop and its like sports, and even though we friends and he calls me and we’re homies, if Kobe and Lebron are on that court, they might score 30 on each other, and get a beer after the game. That’s the sportsmanship of it. Just like how Drake think he the best, and Jay think he the best and Kendrick think he the best, I think I’m the best, Nas think he the best. We all strive to be the best at what we do….I knew it was gonna cause what it was gonna cause. And I respected him for even thinking of that.”
