Kelis Reacts to Nas’ ‘Life Is Good’ Album Cover (Video)

Nas sent shockwaves earlier this month when he unveiled the cover to his upcoming Life Is Good album, due July 17. As we know, the cover features Nas in a suit holding the green wedding dress his ex-wife Kelis wore when they tied the knot. As he revealed in his VH1 Behind the Music special, Kelis left the dress behind after wanting a divorce and suddenly moving out. While out in the U.K. for this year’s Isle of Wight festival, Kelis voiced her thoughts on the artwork.
“My feelings about it are not really relevant, but you know at the end of the day Nas is an artist. And for whatever it’s worth he’s one of the greatest, and especially for what it is he does. So for me, I feel like especially for someone in hip-hop to kind of be genuine and honest, whatever the honesty is about, I think it’s awesome. So my feelings about it aren’t really necessarily valid, it’s just the fact that as an artist I can respect that he wears his feelings on his sleeve.”

how did she mess up a great thing? no one knows what happened between her and nas, but her and nas.
her last album may not have done well but it’s one of her best and for me quality is definitely better than quantity. it’s not her fault people prefer the rihannas and katy perrys.

i think he met her after his mom was sick and she was just there. i’m sure at first she was a major comfert and she had to have felt familar to him and eased him threw that point in his life , but once he was “better” reality and bullshit set in. i always thought he sound have got with a particular Asian blogger .

Much respect to Nas…he is truly one of the most honest artists today. That is why he is the most criticized artist in the industry. Haters can’t stand his creative honesty and would love for him to be apart of the generic rat pack of hip hop.

I dont think she personally likes the dress on the cover.. she kept emphasizing “my personal opinion is irrelevant “. Maybe she is afraid of the backlash she will get if she speaks against him(look how hard some ppl are going in these comments and she was pleasant).

In NAS own words “WHO AM I TO DISAGREE” I believe they were really in love and still do love each other they just can’t be together in a relationship at this time. But i’ve always admired Kelis body of work and respected the fact that she always stayed true to who she was. Art is art, your not gonna love all the pieces but you must respect the effort. That’s all that matters at the end of the day is that she does what loves to do how she loves to do it and that’s probably alot of the reason why Nas was attracted to her because there one in the same when it comes to that ..As for what she just said that was very noble and mature of her considering all they been through. It’s tough going through a divorce and letting go of ill feelings towards the other person so i’m glad she’s seems at a different place and judge not because even though we’ve never seen Nas in rare form doesn’t mean he can’t get nasty with the best of em.lol He’s a VIRGO which mean their good at being publicly well mannered but behind closed doors all that pent up nervous energy boils over to a verbal assassin and sometimes physically too. Inspite ofwhoever and whatever happened i wish equally the best out of this life.
