It’s been a year of ups and downs for Kehlani, but she’s looking to start off 2017 strong with the release of her official debut album. Today the 21-year-old singer took to Twitter to announce that her major label debut, SWEETSEXYSAVAGE, will arrive on January 27.

Yeah, the term “debut album” seems kinda pointless considering Kehlani’s breakout project You Should Be Here was sold commercially and nominated for a Grammy, in addition to the fact she’s been signed to Atlantic for a few years now. So long as it’s as good as her last release, we don’t really care what she calls it.

As women we are told that we cannot be multi layered,” says the Oakland native when explaining the album title. “We are put in boxes.. we can’t be all the above.. reclaim yourself. We have been hurt, we have inflicted hurt, we have been right, we have been wrong, we’ve been shy AND overly confident. We are women. The name is supposed to challenge you. The name is supposed to make you question… only to let u find your own answer. #SWEETSEXYSAVAGE But really.. it’s me reclaiming myself. Me accepting myself. Good & bad. All the way around. It’s me. Thank you for loving me.”

UPDATE (11/30): Kehlani reveals the official album cover below. Fans can pre-order SWEETSEXYSAVAGE starting Friday (Dec. 1).
