as reported by People Magazine…
Kanye West, his family and friends would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of support and kind words that have come in from across the country since the death of his mother, Dr. Donda West.
After working in higher education for 31 years, Dr. Donda West and Kanye West co-founded the Kanye West Foundation with the mission of helping to combat the severe dropout problem in high schools across the country. The first and signature initiative of the Kanye West Foundation is Loop Dreams. Designed to capitalize on students existing interest in hip-hop, Loop Dreams challenges students to learn more about what’s behind hip-hop culture in order to help them develop skills, express themselves creatively and be empowered.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Dr. West’s name to the Kanye West Foundation/Loop Dreams Teacher Training Institute. Those donations can be made by visiting the Foundation’s Web site, www.KanyeWestFoundation.org or by mail at Kanye West Foundation, 8560 W. Sunset Blvd., West Hollywood, CA 90069.

MissInfo I just want to personally thank you for respectfully reporting on Dr. Donda West’s passing, too many other sites turned it in to a disrespectful competition of who could make up reasons for her death the fastest. In the end Kayne and family have suffered a great loss and reguardless of how she passed away it does not take away the depths of sorrow and pain that her death brings. I am deeply disgusted by other media outlets turning this is to a game. Rest In Peace Dr. Donda West you made a HUGE impact on many people lives.

Kanyes mom was like a legend when I was at Chicago State. She will be missed. Some people might look at the donation thing as funny but thats the best way for something positive to come from her death. RIP Dr. West
My prayers to Kanye and the rest of the family and the people she impacted

I want to send my best wishes to Kanye and his family. One thing I find strange about the whole thing is that She is a smart woman but she appearantly went shopping for a doctor that would perform the procedure for her because she had a medcial condition and a few doctors passed on the job. The guy who she did settle on had 2 DUI’s. She is a hard working educator from Chicago why was she so obssesed with getting this procedure. Shouldn’t people.com have an editor to check for grammatical mistakes?

Life is a irreplaceable gift, from the creator to wich whom we know of graceously ,we can not question why, or what if when its time for us to go off on to our own peacefuljourney.I am saddened over the lost of his mom, and I know Kanye just wish he could have been there with his mom when she came home to recuperate from the hospital. For such a young man with a desire in his life ,he is very shocked to know his most loving closest friend he know as his mom is not here. it is very traumatizing for him, he will be ok though, his mom is now walking her peaceful journey with jesus christ our savior and i know Kanye knows that. I send my prayers out to Kanye and his love ones to and family.
