Kanye West and His Kilt Perform at ’12-12-12: The Concert for Sandy Relief’ (Full Video)

Kanye West had the honor of being the only hip-hop act to perform at Wednesday night’s 12-12-12: The Concert for Sandy Relief. Gracing the stage in a leather kilt and a Pyrex Religion Hood sweatshirt, Kanye worked through what seemed to be sound problems during his 21-minute set. Introduced by comedian/actor Chris Rock, Yeezy opened up with his Cruel Summer singles “Clique,” and “Mercy.” The G.O.O.D. Music leader followed with a medley of hits including “Power,” “All of the Lights,” “Jesus Walks,” “Stronger,” “Runaway,” and the first-ever performance of his “Diamonds” remix verse.
Later this month, Kanye will bring in the new year with three consecutive shows at the $2.4 billion-dollar Revel Resort in Atlantic City starting on December 28.

They said he wore a sweatshirt because it was a sweatshirt. They say he wore a kilt becuse it was a kilt. It was not, in fact, a dress. They wrote it was leather because it was made of leather. What’s the issue for you?

When u wear a kilt u free ball he wears a kilt with right leather pants why? next thing u know young dudes will be running round wearing skirts calling them kilts I just don’t get why. He thinks its cool its not plaid like roddy roddy pipers kilt it’s black leather wtf?

A kilt is pleated in the back and straight in the front. It wraps around and buttons on the side, so the front is actually two layers. He word a kilt. Kilts originally were wool and with the tartan patterns. His was not; it was black leather. But it was a kilt.

Amen. He thinks he’s an artist. He wants to be an artist so bad. He’s basically saying “I’m so hetero and artsy that I can wear a skirt”, or a woman’s blouse or sweater or whatever. No. All of it’s so contrived.
Hasn’t the whole “man skirt” thing been trying to catch on in fashion entertainment for over a decade? The Euro man bag caught on, but the man skirt is never going to–at least not in America.
Not saying all artists have to be mentally fucked, but at least Cobain was man enough to rock a dress, and say everyone is gay back in the mid 90′s before youth culture and gays were allies. Although Kanye did stick up for gay people in his Sway interview. But you’re right, he is still a cornball.

For anyone to even entertain the idea of this being a dope performance shows you just how far the F$%^ off Hip Hop has fallen! This was not dope! This was a hot mess. And don’t even go there saying it was a white crowd who didn’t like rap, that’s why they weren’t into it cuz’ that’s a weak ass excuse! Jay killed it at the 9/11 concert with an even older & whiter crowd & he didn’t have half the catalog Kanye had at that time. It just was not a good performance & the whole kilt thing? Meh…
