Kanye West Addresses Grammy Album of the Year Snub: “What Are They Trying to Say?”

It’s not like the Grammys has ever been particularly welcoming to hip-hop (it’s 2013 and they’re still not broadcasting the rap categories on TV. C’mon, son), but there’s one particularly glaring omission from the Album of the Year category this year: Kanye West’s Yeezus. Despite being nominated for Rap Album of the Year, the record that has ranked highly, if not topped, year-end lists across music publications and websites (not just rap ones, either) has been snubbed for the biggest prize of all. And how does Kanye feel about that?
“And Yeezus is the top one or two album on every single list. But only gets two nominations from the Grammys,” he told the crowd during one of his (in)famous rants at a show in Phoenix last night. “What are they trying to say?”

I’m 36-years-old and I have 21 Grammys. That’s the most Grammys of any 36-year-old. Out of all of those 21 Grammys, I’ve never won a Grammy against a white artist. And Yeezus is the top one or two album on every single list. But only gets two nominations from the Grammys. What are they trying to say? Do they think that I wouldn’t notice? Do they think that, someway, I don’t have the power to completely diminish all of their credibility at this moment? But no, no. Only positive energy, only positive vibes. But when you see me talking about what people are doing when I say “marginalized,” when I say “boxed in,” when I say “hold back,” when I say people are afraid of the truth, that’s one example right there in front of you. And people come to me and congratulate me on those two nominations. F*CK THOSE NOMINATIONS!

He’s never going to win against a white artist because he’s black and no-one likes blacks or black music its crystal clear he is being held back and reigned in because of his skin colour, no other reason.

he never said he hasn’t won a grammy competing with a white artist because he’s black. he only said out of 21 grammys he’s won he hasn’t won in a category when he’s competing with white artists (i think that’s wrong however bc he has beaten eminem in 1 year). he’s simply stating a fact, funny how ppl get so twisted up when he tells the truth.
