Thousands of emails from Sony’s servers were recently hacked by a mysterious group known as “Guardians of Peace,” and it’s uncovered plenty of exciting information for music and movie fans alike. The latest series of leaks, courtesy of The Daily Beast, might just have spoiled the surprise for an upcoming feature-length film from Kanye West.

In a conversation in early August, Kanye’s creative director Elon Rutberg pitched a “major film project” involving “both cinematic and technological innovation” to Sony Pictures Entertainment co-chairman Amy Pascal. Rutberg didn’t go into specifics about the project, but speculation suggests it could either be the secret film Kanye premiered at Cannes in 2012, or his Yeezus film, directed by Hype Williams, which he teased earlier this year.

“I supervise all of Kanye’s film and media projects, and we have a major film project coming up that involves both cinematic and technological innovation, so I naturally thought Sony and wanted to reach out,” wrote Rutberg. “We premiered a multi-screen cinema experience to great response at Cannes 2012, and are looking to take the storytelling to the next level with a feature length film, shot for an immersive cinema experience.”

A separate email reveals that Kanye West will make a cameo in an upcoming 2015 Christmas movie, starring Seth Rogen, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Anthony Mackie.

An email dated August 7, 2014, from producer James Weaver to Rogen, his filmmaking partner Evan Goldberg, and Pascal says, “We’ll have an XMAS tease for 2015. We have a specific idea to attach to THE INTERVIEW that will crush. Seth, Joe, and [Anthony] Mackie reenacting the scene from BIG on the floor piano at FAO Schwartz with KANYE WEST. It’s fucking awesome.”

In other music/movie news, a Destiny’s Child movie may also be in the works. In an email from December 2013, Beyonce’s father, Matthew Knowles, pitched an idea for a biopic on the group to Screen Gems President Clint Culpepper. Hopefully it’s not the same Destiny’s Child biopic that’s airing on Lifetime in February, though (we all saw the Aaliyah one, right?)

Matthew Knowles, Beyonce’s Father wants to make the film of Destiny’s Child and came to me first,” wrote Culpepper. “He’s going to Universal next. Do we think it would be a successful film? They’re on Sony label. I’m just not sure that it’s not too soon.”
