The 59th annual Grammy Awards will take place is less than two weeks on Feb. 12 live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA. While many stars are expected to be in attendance, a few notables are reportedly skipping the 2017 award show for various reasons.

According to TMZ, Kanye West, Drake and Justin Bieber won’t be in attendance at next month’s event. The reason for Kanye’s absence is unknown, though the rapper has kept a low-profile from public events after being released from hospital last year.

Drake’s absence is due to his “Boy Meets World” European tour that just kicked off last weekend in Amsterdam, while a source reveals to TMZ that Justin Bieber feels the award show doesn’t reward young successful stars making a mark in music. “He just doesn’t think the Grammys are relevant or representative, especially when it comes to young singers,” the source tells TMZ.

None of the artists have indicated that bypassing the GRAMMYs is their way of protest, a move that singer/songwriter Frank Ocean made back in November. In an interview with the New York Times, Ocean spoke about not submitting his Endless and Blonde LPs to the Recording Academy for GRAMMY consideration.

It just doesn’t seem to be representing very well for people who come from where I come from, and hold down what I hold down,” said Frank. “I think the infrastructure of the awarding system and the nomination system and screening system is dated. I’d rather this be my Colin Kaepernick moment for the Grammys than sit there in the audience.”
