Juelz’s new movie and mixtape….The Project
Posted by Miss Info under new music , videos[14] Comments
I usually dread hearing about another rapper-infected movie, but Juelz Santana is in a new indie film that’s making the festival rounds and it has an interesting premise. Its a faux-documentary by Ryan Piotrowicz about 2 naive eagerbeavers trying to go shoot a doc about “life in the hood” (both kids and cops) and obviously, they get more than they can handle. (Sometimes when I hear about certain projects I wonder about the motivation behind the pen/camera too.) The film is called The Project, and there may be a private screening in the city soon. [Note: now that I think about it, it kinda reminds me of the plot of Black and White, which is one of my favorite rap-infused movies, lol...Robert Downey Jr and Mike Tyson FTW]
But in the meantime, Juelz and his Skullgang DJ Travisty made a mixtape for the movie..

YO I just seen this trailer on onsmash and was thinking Ive been wanting to see this flim for so many years now. You got all these artsy/ hipsters from anywhere in the world except NYC and they are so interested in NYC culture that they dibble and dabble with these Cool Kids who are from these hoods without knowing majority of these kids cant walk in their projects without taking the long way home and these NYC transplants are satisfied with just the party life. They got stories to tell to their homeboys in West Virginia about how they waited online to buy these dunks to match their streetwear and how they popped a bottle with Roxy Cottontail and a had conversation with this kid from Harlem and he let him use the N word throughout the conversation while somking dust. We all know thats the closest these kids will ever get to hood besides paying 550 to share a 2 bedroom apartment with 5 other dudes in Bushwick. But Im not hating these transplants at all even tho I had to vent a little. Thanks Miss Info for listening lol!

Now that’s something! Why haven’t I heard about this project before? Juelz never bragged bout it! And sundance people award is really something. In terms of rapgame: on the website of this movie one can read that there’s a mixtape from juelz and dj travisty, the skullgang dj. Does it mean that Elz is no longer official Diplomats (and not DIPLOMATES as it states on this movie’s website) member or that dipset is over? Hey Miss Info! I want an investigation on this one!
)))
ps. Miss. have you seen the comments about your coiffure on worldstarhiphop concernig your participation in fancy dinner with jimmy, dame and paul rosenberg? funny!

By the way…y’all should check out this book by photographer Boogie called “Its All Good”. Although Boogie isn’t a hipster like the characters in this film, his photography is true-to-life images of ganglife, drug uses and pretty much any part of Brooklyn that hasn’t turned into Williamsburg (yet). The concept of going into these communities and “documenting” them reminded me of the book.

That scene with where Downy flirts with Tyson is a beast[||]. It looks like they improvised it and didn’t tell Mike, Downy looks scared for his life. I would look for it right now on Youtube, but I am gearing up for 30 Rock/ LOST. Oh, shit, I just watched the trailer, it looks pretty good. There is definitely some culture clash around that part of Brooklyn, and I think that is where the native NY kids picked up all that tight pants stuff from hipsters (or vice versa.)Let’s go to the Williamsburg screening, maybe a riot will break out

The problem with hip-hop flicks is they are quick to roll camera.
The need to focus more on the plot and pay attention to bringing the script to life. Plus they need legitimate directors and producers.
I like hip-hop films though, LL Cool J, DMX Belly, Ice Cube xXx2 Boyz in da hood,2 Pac Above the Rim,Snoop Dogg in Starsky & Hutch
I think hip-hop needs 2or3 decent films every year. Then maybe I might watch the Oscars.
Plus Queen Latifah and Will Smith be doin there thing too
I will watch this movie though Killa Season was……..I still ain’t got my head around that 1. Especially when Flee’s niece gets shot
