Jon Stewart Defends Common And Goes Head-to-Head With Bill O’Reilly

Last night, Jon Stewart appeared on The O’Reilly Factor to further defend Common on his appearance at The White House late last week. The invite from Michelle Obama caused some noise in the media, mainly with FOX News, O’Reilly and others like him who felt Common shouldn’t have been invited. To me, Nas explained this whole thing perfectly in his recent sitdown with Sway of MTV. Hold on to your hats because I’m about to (slightly) defend Bill O’Riely…..The truth is out of all the people on Fox News Bill O’Riely is now the most logical and least crazy. Even though he’s still dead wrong about Common I give him credit for at least debating this issue with someone who is smart and capable of standing up to him that’s more then any other person on Fox would do. And as bias as O’Riely is he never out right lied to misrepresent Common’s character by portraying him as a thug or a misogynistic the way Shawn Hannity, Glenn Beck and others on his network did.
Still it was fun watching O’Riely try desperately to distance himself from all the other commentators on his network probably because Stewart nailed him with that “Fox News selective outrage machine” line which the best moment of the entire thing.

You said the key shit in there “debating this issue with someone who is smart and capable” most of the time they just get morons that look so stupid that they win by default… Stewart just sat back listened to his bullshit and cut his head off and by the end Bill-O had to laugh at it and i his own way admit it was bullshit!! You gotta love that… debating 101…

learn to spell that one name right that you’re defending. You give O’Reilly credit for something thats not even credible. He NEVER had anything to do with logic. He is all about interrupting and raising his voice and insulting for no fucking reason. Now hes cool for debating with someone smart? isnt that the least thing a major network can do? smh. keep your standards higher my dude.

Yo john stewart is dat dude .. i never use to watcdh the daily show but i started watching it like recently and he be killin the republican party and all the crazies (fox news). He make more sense than the acutal news and thats horrible….

i wish jon brought up that this wasnt the first time common was in wh house, he was just there in DEC. further fox news is the one touting all the cop killing stuff, common hasnt vocalized any of that stuff for YEARs (not that it matter if he did, hes entitled to his opinion) its always people thats gonna think someone is innocent of a crime. no matter how much so called evidence is there, so bill was wrong again in that point. smh

Amazing performance totally inspiring.
Props to Common. Art rises above our petty humanity. Being in the room would have been so special. Its a feeling only Music / Drama / Poetry can create. Every line a quotable.

One has to wonder if O’Reilly really believes all of the things he moans about. He has an audience to cater to. We don’t have anyone like him over here though some of the Daily Mail and The Sun writers come close. Richard Littlejohn is quite an odious character.
