kudos to Dawan Owens who wrote up a first-person account of his night at the Los Angeles kickoff of Hov’s American Gangster mini-tour, featuring cameos from Beans, Free, Diddy and JD. There’s great detail, and even a little covert video, but I especially liked the fact that it didn’t read like some sugar-fueled man-fan-a-rama. There were parts of the show that dude liked, and parts that fell flat. Click here for the show review.
Here’s a clip from the show.

Why is Everyone Treating Frank Lucas like a Hero?
Dude is a murder and one of the key ppl responsible for the economic and social devastation that rocked Harlem in the 70s and carried over to crack era of the 80s. I can believe rappers, DJs, and other members of the hip hop community a treating him as an icon, glorifying his life style.
Last night I heard Frank giving shout outs on Mr. Cee’s Show on Hot 97. I love Mr. Cee, but this is totally unacceptable.
PS – Isn’t Jay-Z too old to be rapping about this material? I expect more from someone in their mid-30s.
