Roc Nation Sports just made a big move. Jay-Z is now a licensed NBA Agent. Two months ago, Hov sold his Brooklyn Nets ownership (less than 1%) to dive into a new aspect of professional sports. ESPN has confirmed that Jay and his longtime business partner Juan “OG” Perez, president of Roc Nation Sports, are now certified with the National Basketball Players Association. According to reports, Kevin Durant is amongst the first players on their wishlist. Rumor has it that Victor Cruz may also be joining the team.
In other related news, it looks like Magna Carter Holy Grail’s 1 million albums purchased by Samsung will not be eligible to count for Jay’s first week sales. MTV spoke to a spokesperson for the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) who said albums only become eligible for RIAA certification 30 days after their initial release date. The article also says Billboard does not count bulk sales. Apparently, UMG is still negotiating this process in hopes of getting the album counted.
