Jay-Z Announces ‘Magna Carta Holy Grail’ Album in New Samsung Commercial

After mysteriously releasing this photo informing fans to tune into Game 5 of the NBA Finals, Jay-Z makes an announcement with a new Samsung commercial. Co-starring producers Rick Rubin, Swizz Beatz, Timbaland, and Pharrell Williams, Jay-Z reveals a new album titled Magna Carta Holy Grail will arrive on July 4.
The first million fans with a Samsung Galaxy S III, Galaxy S4, or Galaxy Note 2 to download the app on Google Play June 24th will receive the album for free on Independance Day, three days before the public. For more details visit the official site at magnacartaholygrail.com.

Please forgive if I “Stan” out for a moment, but let’s break this all down shall we?
-While other rappers are losing their endorsements, Hova just signed Another multi-milli deal with the #1 brand in Cellular service Worldwide.
-He buys up 3 MINUTES of ad space in the NBA Finals to announce his new album, only 2 weeks before release. In said commercial, he gets 4 of the Greatest Producers Ever to vibe over new instrumentals & discuss philosophies. During the NBA Finals…. WHO DOES THIS?!?! And it’s done in such an artistically Grand level too!!!
-He is giving his album away fro FREE via Samsung in one of the Great Promotional Moves Ever Seen! And it kills the real need for early leaks by just giving it away.
– He steals the shine from All Other Rappers who released music this week & does it in a way so incredible & bold, it’s beyond words. This is truly Next Level Ish right here!
I don’t even care if the album is a Classic or not (Ok maybe I do but I’m just saying), this move is a total game changer! And the audacity to buy up commercial space during the one sporting event you know all heads will be watching? He just shut ish down!
Just reediculous! And I’m not even that big a Jay fan! This is on a level that NO RAPPER will ever get to! Stay Humble my friends! And somebody might wanna go console Kanye. Danm! Jay just stole his whole Summer Shine!

Its not really game changing when only an artist as big as Jay-Z can pull something off like this. Maybe a Justin Timberlake, Beyonce, etc. but no other rapper can do something this big. Maybe Ye but don’t even think his ego would allow him. Lil Wayne possibly but Baby is too greedy to give out any free albums.

Can’t wait and the beats they played sounded sick Hov got me hooked and i will be getting this album. I wish i could say the same for Kanye sad to say i have not liked a kanye album since Graduation but his best to me will always be Late Registration heard the new one and still after a few listen i can’t endorse buying it .

I’m a fan of JayZ like anyone else BUT the Internets “going crazy” every time Jay breathes does get a little silly at times. This is what Jay does and for a man at the level he is at I cant acted so surprised at this.
He sealed a deal with a Samsung and used it to do an extended commercial for an album we’ve heard nothing from yet. Great promo yes but personally I wish there were more artist moves to get excited about. I mean how many times can it be just JayZ before we wonder whats happening to the rest of the artists?
I want to see more folk from our culture reach this level not just the “one that made it”.
But never the less I’m sure I’ll enjoy JayZ’s work much more then Ye’s new album.

Beats are going to be sick but what more does jay have to say. Last thing I want to hear is him bringing up Dash, the past or some I’m on a boat with Bill Gates sh*t. Hopefully the lyrics aren’t trash like blueprint 3. I heard the beats and he uses the same producers that made him successful but jay not spitting in the promo is a bit worrisome. Does he even know what the Magna carta was and what it represents or is he just doing with kanye did and using it as a play on words with his name? Magna Carta was written by a group of 13th-century barons to protect their rights and property against a tyrannical king. It is a principal document that superseded democracy and rights. What does this have to do with rap? or Jay-z for that matter?

One of the conditions of the album is probably to give away 1 million free copies via Samsung smartphones. Doesn’t mean samsung purchased any. He signed a deal which has plenty of conditions attached to it like any contract. Those conditions have to be met before he can cash that check.

I take the Magna Carta to mean this is his “document” or his effort to protect the culture he has worked hard to build/save/preserve. A lot of things are changing in Hip Hop (behind the scenes that we may not know about) and perhaps he feels his voice/art/production is the blueprint needed to save/protect hip hop?!?! Maybe I am reaching because that of what the Magna Carta meant…

What you shouldve focused on was the picture of four rich black men who have to look like money to show how far they’ve come in thier lives. As they stand next to man who’s lived their life time plus more n always manages to look like he cares not for material things n manages to always look at peace with himself. As does Bill Gates, who after already making billions was still eating brown bag lunches. “Wealthy” is what Jay aspires to be which is why he surrounds himself with such people.
