jay-z-444-interview-1

Since the release of his latest No. 1 album 4:44 back in June, JAY-Z has chosen to the let the music do the talking passing on doing any press run. Instead, the mogul/rapper has kept fans at attention by dropping brilliant “Footnotes” visual conversation pieces, plus music videos for songs like “Moonlight,” “BAM” and last week’s offering “MaNyfaCedGod.”

For this week’s drop, the man himself gives an in-depth interview speaking about his most personal album to-date. In part 1 of the Rap Radar podcast, JAY-Z hosts Elliott Wilson and Brian ‘B.Dot’ Miller at his Los Angeles area mansion, where he sites down and discusses how 4:44 came together with producer No I.D., the massive marketing plan, putting so much content into a 10-song LP, 4:44‘s ranking with all his solo projects, Billboard not counting corporations pre-purchasing albums and free downloads, Tyler the Creator’s recent rant towards TIDAL, Spotify vs. TIDAL, empowering African-Americans, the controversial money phone lyric on “The Story of O.J.,” his current relationship with Kanye West and why is hasn’t been reconciled, the infamous elevator fight with Solange, and Jay confirms the 4:44 album title theory is real.

Available exclusively on TIDAL, watch the nearly 70-minute first part below. UPDATE (9/7): The full interview is now available on YouTube, click here for Part 2.
