J.Cole talks to Complex, and performs this Sat at NYU

J.Cole is featured in a new story on the Complex Blog about his experience writing his verse to “A Star is Born” for Jay’s Blueprint 3, while Hov watched his progress….and this Sat. the rap ingenue will be performing at NYU, with an afterparty at BLVD. With a high-profile collabo, a well-received mixtape, a fansite (!) and healthy buzz…the young gun from Queens via NC (yeesh) is ripening nicely. (Thanks to my boy Griffin for keeping me in the loop!)

If you listened to his “well-received mixtape”…you’d hear in every song that he’s really from North Carolina lol. He did attend St. John’s University in Queens.

He was actually born and raised in Fayetville but later moved to New York to attend college.

I’m planning on being there tomorrow as J.Cole is my favorite rapper at the moment. No afterparty though. It’s still a recession.

Info – ingenues are young women. Are you dissing or was that just a mistake?

I don’t know of a male equivalent in French. I would guess there isn’t one.
Thought this was interesting when I was trying to Google this … http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080730025058AAEgofE

TICKETS FOR THE SHOW ARE CURRENTLY SOLD OUT BUT A SMALL NUMBER MAY BECOME AVAILABLE AROUND 9 PM…
Due to some highly unethical and obviously racist actions on behalf of BLVD, we canceled the party. So we’re scaling back our plans and we’re going to do a smaller more intimate party at the Alibi Lounge on MacDougal Street (between Bleecker and West 3rd).
