Is Kendrick Lamar set to drop a bomb? As fans eagerly await the release of Lamar’s highly-anticipated sophomore album, news about a new record possibly off the LP was revealed online. Scott Vener, Music Supervisor for HBO series such as Entourage and How To Make It In America took to Twitter on Wednesday night to speak on an impromptu listening session of some new Kendrick records.

Continue after the jump……

Originally visiting to catch up with good friend Pharrell Williams in studio, things quickly changed as Lamar, who was working on ideas with The Neptunes hitmaker, pulled out his laptop and played a few new songs including one called “King Kunta.” Produced by TDE’s own Sounwave, Vener describes the record as one that “Took me all the way back to 90s hip hop and back and gave me a tour of the cultural fabric of LA like never before.”

He later spoke on Pharrell’s reaction, who described “King Kunta” as “That song is so unapologetically black and AMAZING,” also mentioning he can’t wait for A Tribe Called Quest member Q-Tip to hear it, “Those chord changes though. I can’t wait for @QtipTheAbstract to hear this.”

While there’s no confirmation if the song will appear on Lamar’s untitled album, with Vener pushing the #KingKunta hashtag on Twitter and TDE CEO Punch allowing such details to be revealed, there’s a good chance this maybe the second “statement,” a follow-up to the uplifting “i.”
