Posted by Mr.North under videos[30] Comments
Released Tuesday via MTV Jams, VEVO drops the visual for Lil’ Wayne’s current single “How To Love.” The video for the #6 song on Billboard’s Hot 100, tells the dual-story of a female growing up in different environments and the end results in both scenarios. Tha Carter IV will be available at 12:00AM Monday following Weezy’s performance at the MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles.
Directed by Chris Robinson

OMG! When rappers are negative they’re criticized for not showing much positivity. Then when they do something positive, it’s dumbed down cause they’re “generally” negative. Go sit down somewhere!!!

Nah fam you cant go in on dude like that…. No one gets pissed at Eminem for making records like this so why cant Wayne?
Listen I thought all of the Carters except the first WAS VERY OVERRATED he clearly robbed Santana and dipset for they swag but with that said this album sounds like its going to be pretty good…..
And Kanye and Jay-Z have yet to jointly promote that fucking album hahahah because they too busy to push the success of it right? HAHHAHA Look for an album from Jazzy next summer hahhaha he’s about to have the world drop on his fucking head and I cant wait…

I couldn’t take him serious if his life depended on it. But understandably so, emotionally vulnerable females are the demographic for this song and video. It’s made to tug at their heart-strings.

Hated the song but I like the visual. Cycle that’s all too frequent in our community.

That was on of the most AWESOME socially conscious, relevant videos I have EVER seen. Lil’ Wayne continues to amaze me with his genius. The video shows the consequence of not growing up in a nurturing loving environment as opposed to having the love and stability of caring adults who tuaht the young lady how to love. I applaud you!!!!!!

Is it the genius of having the ability to go from talking about how much he loves having sex with females and all the things he has done to them in an explicit manner to talking about “how to love?” It’s all about business and appealing to certain crowds and types of people. Sadly, you sound like a sucker. This is the same guy your applauding who says he’s a blood till he dies. What blood do you know or have ever heard of that gives a rats ass about the consequences of a young woman not growing up in a nurturing environment? I listen to some of his music myself but Im not going to pretend like he cares about the youth’s well being. Yeah he’s a genius alright. FOH

Ironically she could easily have been dancing to a ‘Weezy’ song in that strip club.
One conscious song can’t redeem you Wayne.
The music you and your comrades make contribute to the very picture of hurt, pain and struggle portrayed in this video.
/rant
With that said, I still give props for an artist of his stature (heh) addressing the issue.

I like this concept, but like his rock album I rather not hear him singing with a raspy voice and drum machine lol I would have rather he let the original writer/singer to the song sing and then he add his 16 in between. Not that i completely hated the 808 heart brakes and those type of emotional sappy inspired albums with under tones of rock. I just think to tamper with that artistry and it not be authentic comes off as poorly done.
Never the less the concept is brilliant!

Ditto. Wish Weezy could make more socially conscious videos/songs like this. He’s made enough money now, surely.

I like it! 2 different stories in the video and the visuals fit the song perfectly. Lil Wayne has come a long way from “wobbledy wobbledy” and “drop it like its hot”. lol

Yo I’m gona be honest, this not one my favorite singles, when I look for a Lil Wayne I wana hear the homie rap opposed to singing. First time I heard it, sound like some pop thing I hear on z100. He’s an artist I guess.
But the concept behind this video is nice tho. Lets see what happens Monday..

Empty threats are the new wave by the way??? What grown man believes that bullshit? I’d love to have heard how loud Jay laughed at that…they should’ve taped his reaction like 2girls1cup & put it on the blogs..

It seems like every time a rapper tries to go conscious, they put out the same damn video. This is pretty much “Runaway Love” but I don’t buy it coming from Wayne, someone who put out “We Like Her”

This song is trash but the video gives the song life. Its one of those “I didn’t like the song until I saw the video situations”. And I can see the Wayne supportes now… ” Ohh 2pac did similar stuff” Stop it and don’t even mention this weirdo in the same voice as Pac.
I think the real props should be given to the person who came up with the treatment for the video. I think Wayne is OK at Best and is sucessful in a time when hip-hop is suffering. LOL.. LIL B and Soulja boy wouldnt have been relavent in the 90′s.

All rappers call women bitches and hoes one minute then say how they love them the next… the difference is Wayne damn near quadruples the music output of most rappers so his “sore thumb” so to speak, is much larger and sticks out further..and therefore can be criticized much more and much easier.
