Justin Bieber’s New Song “Boyfriend”: Is The Biebs Filling the Justin Timberlake Void?
Posted by Miss Info under about miss info , life beyond rap , new music[16] Comments
Biebermania Back! He showed he could take his lumps on that coverstory in Complex, and tonight Justin Bieber debuted “Boyfriend,” the lead single off his upcoming Believe album. The song is produced by Mike Posner, but I’ve been hearing buzz for weeks about how the teenybop idol is a “whisper-rap” flow…also described as a mix between Justin Timberlake’s “SexyBack” and the Ying Yang Twins’ “Wait.” But it works. And I also think Bieber’s strategy of being the new Timberlake that old Timberlake refused to be….is a great idea.
What do you think of the Biebs’ more mature and urban sound? His Believe album will features contributions from Pharrell, Timbaland, Drake, Diplo, Hit-Boy, will.i.am, and more.
New Music: Justin Bieber – “Boyfriend” (prod. by Mike Posner) (Purchase now on iTunes)
“Tell me what you like, dear/Tell me what you don’t/I could be your Buzz Lightyear/Fly across the globe/You don’t even need to fight, dear/You already know/I can make you shine bright/Like you’re laying in the snow/Burr.”
Listen and Let us know your thoughts on “Boyfriend”…

thing about justin is he kinda grew up in a era where u can dress talk act how ever you want, justin isent wild and crazy but he does what he wants.timberlake grew up in the 90s and as much ppl like the 90s. their was like these rules i notice where if you do one thing you get laughed at and shut down for ever look what they did to hammer.younger kids dont do that like their probley more grown than older ppl less bullys more free.their are some that dident follow no rules in the 90s but if u think about them their still here.thats why you will see busta at age 39 or 40 with thousands of younger ppl trying to do his raps faster than him on you tube and knowing his music. but im sure timberlake will start doing his thing again.

I wish much success to the kid, but nobody can ever fill Timberlakes void (pause). I need him to drop acting for just a second, link up with Pharrel/Timbo and put out another album ASAP

I give Bieber his respect but this sounds to eerily like ’02-’04 Timberlake, too eerily like “Like I Love You”.
At doesn’t it say ALOT about where music is going when going back TEN years is considered growth?

i like the new route he’s going. definatly trying to go after a slightly older and diverse crowd. with that said am i the only one who thinks this is some lazy ass song writing

The song is cool. Wouldn’t say he’s quite feeling JT’s spot just yet. Still a little to clean and innocent. This is still very simple, safe, easy going pop music. Now when he comes out with a song with some personal depth ala Cry Me A River or a little more grown man “swag” like SexyBack or Like I love You, we can talk.

i don’t think he sounds ‘urban’. he doesn’t sound like justin timberlake either.
it just sounds like him naturally progressing, maturing his voice. but all in all just him growing. not growing into someone else.

You are a fool if you think this song doesn’t sound like it was made by JT. I HIGHLY doubt the first time u heard this u said, “YES, sounds like natural progression and maturing in his voice!” No, I’m sure u, like everyone else, was surprised this wasnt’s JT. It’s not just him sounding like him, mimicing his style, it’s also the whole vibe to the song. Play back some JT n listen to it carefully… Sounds like JT’s natural progression. The Beibs should find HIS natural progression.
I second Kreole…
And Young Scuba is right… going back TEN years is not considered growth.
