Jay-Z Samples His New Baby’s Cries on “Glory” Feat. Blue Ivy Carter! (Updated with Lyrics)

Awww! Jay-Z is basking in the glow of being a new dad. His wife Beyonce just gave birth to a baby girl, Blue Ivy Carter, on Saturday January 7….and not only did dad record the most touching ode to his daughter but he even sampled the baby’s first* cries at the end of this song! Wow. For the man who has always been composed and intensely private…this is a true sign of how parenthood can transform you.
Hov’s only message on the post: “Life just got really good.”
New Music: Jay-Z featuring his daughter Blue Ivy Carter “Glory”
(Alternate Stream):
Baby, I paint the sky blue, my greatest creation was you, you. Glory…
I wreak havoc on the world, get ready for part two, a younger smarter faster me, so a pinch of Hov, a whole glass of Bey…
Last time, the miscarriage was so tragic. We was afraid you’d disappear but nah, Baby you magic!
So there you have it, shit happens, just make sure the plane you on is bigger than your carry-on baggage.
Everybody goes through stuff, life is a gift, Love, open it up. You’re a child of destiny. You’re the child of my destiny. You’re my child with the child from Destiny’s Child. That’s a hell of a recipe.
Via LifeandTimes
(*I amended that because Baby Blue could have been recorded any time in the past 2 days. But this is still friggin’ beyond adorable!)
Check out the rest of Jay-Z’s most personal lyrics ever…
Most amazing feeling I feel/Words can’t describe the feeling for real.
Baby I paint the sky blue, my greatest creation was you, you. Glory.
False alarms and false stops, all made better by the sound of your heart
All the pain of the last time, pray so hard it was the last time.
Your momma said that you danced for her. Did you wiggle your hands for her. Glory, glory, glory. Sorry. Everything that I prayed for. God’s gift. I wish I would of prayed more. God makes no mistakes I made a few. Rough sledding here and there but I made it through.
I wreak havoc on the world, get ready for part two, a younger smarter faster me, so a pinch of Hov, a whole glass of Bey.
Glory.
The most amazing feeling I feel. Words can’t describe what a feeling for real. Baby, I paint the sky blue, my greatest creation was you.
Your grand pop died of liquor failure. Then he died of liver failure. Deep down he was a good man.
God damn I can’t deliver failure. Bad ass little Hov, two years old shopping on Saville Row. Wicked ass little Bey, hard not to spoil you rotten, looking like little me.
The most beautiful-est thing in this world, is Daddy’s little girl.
You don’t yet know what swag is, but you was made in Paris, and Momma woke up the next day and shot her album package.
Glory Glory Glory. Sorry. Glory.
The most amazing feeling I feel. Words can’t describe what a feeling for real. Baby, I paint the sky blue, my greatest creation was you.
*Blue Ivy’s crying*
NOTE: Can we also just address the fact that….on Saturday, the lights of the Empire State Building were awash in blue. And with his first line of “Glory” (and the fact that this photo appeared with the song), Jay-Z basically confirmed that he arranged for the Empire State Building lights as a celebration of his baby’s birth. Since Beyonce reportedly had a scheduled c-section, this would be feasible. Jawdropping, but feasible. *mind blown*
UPDATE: Haha! Thank you again to our savvy readers. DennLive just corrected me. The Empire State Building was blue in honor of…The New York Giants. Lol. Conspiracy twarted. But coincidence…ON!

the only other one is False alarms and false “starts” not “stops”
One another note: is the “just make sure the plane you on is bigger than your carry-on baggage” a little ode to aaliyah?
makes u kind of wish him and dash we cool again celebrating this

He says “You grand pa died of Nigga failure, then he died of liver failure” which is why he goes to say he cant deliver failure and how good deep inside his dad was… all reference to his dad leaving thus dying to him as a father like many other black fathers who leave…
January 9th, 2012 at 2:08 pm
That line about the carry-on baggage…was he alluding to Aaliyah…?

Like it’s obviously not a diss considering their relationship but, for the lyrically-savvy listeners and hip hop historians out there, it seems a bit out of place and ill-conceived.
Hmmm…curiouser and curiouser.

Give all glory to Gloria, they said you raised that boy too fast, but you was raising a warrior.
This is the sweetest song EVER!
To even touch on Bey’s miscarriage, and then have Baby Blue make her cameo is just EVERYTHING.
Much love to the Caters.

Blue Ivy’s initials are B.I. Could it be that Jay purpose gave her these initials in honor of his dear friend and and inspiration the Notorious B.I.G.?

Congrats to the Carters.
“Blue” is a retarded name BTW. Hopefully they call her Ivy more than Blue.

Blue is the color of the sky and sea. It is often associated with depth and stability. It symbolizes trust, loyalty, wisdom, confidence, intelligence, faith, truth, and heaven.
note: The correct spelling of your name is Apostle. Meaning “one who is sent forth” as in the 12 Apostles of Jesus. Not Apos (bathroom) tile.. Now that’s retarded.. But what’s in a name, right. We aint trying to call you out on it. lol

How about if Jay-Z DID have the lights turned blue all weekend on the Empire State Bluiding. And said, list it as being blue for the Giants, since I don’t want any heavy publicity. Isn’t this event GIANT enough? hmmmmmmmmm (X-Files music playing in the background)

This is an absolutely great song.. Good heartfelt lyrics, nice delivery and great production from Pharrel.
Awefully nice that they sampled her voice too.. Its an album worthy track. The child is a blessing for Hov+Bey in 2012 and “Glory” is a blessing to Hip Hop for the new year 2012.

Ahh hip-hop, legitimate til’ the end.
Ride the wave to superstardom with misogyny-
“sh!t I, part with nothing, y’all be frontin’, me give my heart to a woman? Not for nothing, never happen, I’ll be forever mackin’”
“Get your indepdendent ass out of here…question”
“Me and AI had something in common/Carmen”
Then when that money moves slow it’s “Crazy in Love” and “Me and my Girlfriend”.
Now its proud papa, my darling baby…etc.

And save that “its called maturing” BS for the birds, Jay-Z is nothing if not calculated. And don’t pull the hater card either, bc Ive been a fan for years, and was a die-hard through the Black Album.

Smooth analysis and very much appreciated but do know that most of these rappers talk sh-t that they don’t know about/mean/etc. Misogyny sells but so do healthy, heterosexual relationships in Hollywood. He just knew that better than most. Raps are like sci-fi movies…so when every hip hop clown state, “it’s a movie!”, that’s probably the realest thing they will ever say, sadly…for many of them.

“Then when that money moves slow..” and that’s where you went wrong.. the money never slowed up for HOV. U making it seem like dude made moves with B because his money was slowing up? Hell nah but I do agree that Jay is calculated…. but he is still human and with the money or not he too matures as he grows, its not that far fetched to say “its called maturing” so u need to just chill out.

Actually, the money had slowed. He had just been bodied by Nas with “Ether”. Blueprint coincided with 9/11 and still is at only 2x platinum. Right after that Blueprint 2 came out with B on “Me and my Girlfriend” being the lead video to TRL (when that was a big deal). “Excuse Me Miss” came right after.

Really , u thought she was making up her pregnancy? Why would Beyonce need to make that up? Now that Hov confirmed it through a song you believe. Without photos and you believe. B was photographed all over the place with her bump but that wasn’t enough. And now there’s a song and you want to jump on the congrats bandwagon. Next time try being less judgemental.

I think the people dissing Hov for this are missing the bigger point. He is celebrating the birth of his child. Watching a child come into the world is a mindblowing and life changing experience so forgive him if he was little inspired.
Congrats to the Carters. Can’t wait for 2030 when the baby will be nerdy and make the whole club swoon.
