Busta Rhymes and Birdman Confirm Their Cash Money Deal (Video)
Posted by Mr.North under behind the scenes , interview[25] Comments
After last night’s news, we have the official announcement video of Busta Rhymes joining forces with Baby & Slim’s Cash Money Records.
“This whole experience that’s getting ready to happen is probably going to be one of the most defining moments in hip-hop and probably in entertainment overall. This alliance with the Conglomerate and YMCMB and me and Bird and Wayne, the whole family, is something that’s been a long time coming because we just always had a respect level and a genuine friendship for a very long time.”
Props to Derick G.
Busta speaks more on his new deal with MTV at Google’s red carpet event in Los Angeles last night….

Is this a step forward or a step backwards for a Vet like Busta? I guess Flipmode is an official wrap?

ONLY TIME WILL TELL but
i think there is a big issue with the way we view business these days …. people think if they don’t own everything they are failures .. and its completely wrong every one has to build their brand in their own way.. look at puffy he doesnt own Ciroc but he makes them money and it made him alot of money .. some times joining forces is a great idea .. jigga and live-nation… now Busta has a place that is gonna let him do his own thing and make bread and now he has the true freedom to take flipmode to another level.. its okay to join a company and make money … maybe in a few years he can branch off on his own or maybe he will make enough money that he might even co own cash money that will be a great look for him … (NOT SAYING THAT ALL THAT IS GONNA HAPPEN.. BUT IM JUST SAYING ITS A POSSIBILITY AND IF YOUR IN BUSTA’S SITUATION IT COULDNT HURT TO TRY)

@Nightfall to answer your queestion I think this is one giant step forward in the wrong drection hahahaha
This might help him make some money, keep his name live and not just fade away.. Now in Buss case does he demand a reease date? And how does having the Young Money roster on his project help his product? You’d have to expect it would in some way.. Drake, Nicki, Wayne maybe Gunz just because the flows are similar? How does it all mesh?
He’s not old enough to just sit as a credibility piece…And If I’m on Young Money I’M PISSED! How do you keep sign’n niggas and cats who paid they dues ant even get a release date yet…

yeah I literally shook my head @ that statement ; he made it seem like he was another tax write off under a umbrella promotion company.I don’t knock him though most people aren’t educated in music business practices (including artists) They didn’t leak to many intricate details about the actual contractual agreements {because obviously it was a buy-out of Busta’s current situation} but i doubt its anything like diddy and ciroc or Jay-z and live nations those are joint ventures; believe me that’s not what Busta got; if anything baby probably had to buy out Busta’s contract and now hes in debt to baby for 5 albums under YMCMB. It saddens me to see Busta in this type of situation.

i’m not saying that Jay or diddy’s deal is the same .. im say that the aspect of joining a bigger entity is the same … they all joined forces with something that was bigger than them … thats my point ..

After reading the replies I’m personally feeling that this an odd move at best for Busta. I guess the true test will be what does a Busta/Cash Money album look like. Will this be reminiscent of when Mack 10 joined Cash Money. Squeeze out a few hot joints then fade away?

What’s amazing is that in over 5 minutes of taping time, not a single ounce of intelligence was conveyed. It sounded like a bunch of ignorant rhetoric at best.

Step #FAIL. A vet like Busta should stand by Flipmode Squad and get Universal or Rick Rubin at Sony Music to finance his very own label. Give Spliff the “Ty-Ty” BFF-VP role at the label (LOL). Vets like Busta and Fat Joe should be inspired by Cash Money or Roc Nation and commit to developing and signing new artists.
Now, I wouldn’t be mad if Rah Digga joined Nicki and Corey Gunz at Cash Money…

great move, when it comes to beats ymcmb is one of the best, anyone hating should wait until they hear the music before they complain, this was a genius move on bustas part, the south got beats on lock and ny got the best lyricists, combining the best of both regions is great for hip hop, it should have happened a long time ago

Some people don’t read or understand English wtf…He’s joining Baby’s crew not Wayne’s……Cash Money the parent situation….Read btween lines…This is done so he can help wack ass baby….So Bus is joining the right part of the crew because he kinda belongs there. No one else could really help him without 1000′s of questions and battles being brought up. So He will be Baby’s weapon against The more polished MC’s….Did Bus sell his soul tho…..now that’s the question……

Only question I have is how are all these new cats able to come out and have their own label situation so quick and none of these old cats who still around…Joe, Nas, Busta, Nore etc can seem to get it poppin like that…
I mean..the same people that wanye, ross & 50 learned from to get their shit poppin was avaliable to teach all these old cats…
I guess some people will always just be a worker..

Yo this whole I’m a boss attitude everybody seems to have is very corny especially in rap just cause a nigga got a label don’t make him a boss example memphis bleek had get low records for over 10yrs never dropped nothing busta and nas came in the game at a different time they got in to rap because they love music they both helped who was a kid just coming out of jail when he got his deal some artist don’t want the stress of handling other artist just to say they a boss most labels run be artist don’t do well. So instead of everybody tryin to be a boss dudes need to know their roll stay in their lane and play their part to the of best

This is a crazy move for busta but as long as he keep doing busta and don’t turn into cash money he should be good he doesn’t need 1000 features with wayne drake and nicki he’s already established and he damn sure don’t need to fuck with them bench players
