Stretch Gots a Story to Tell from Gasface on Vimeo.
I love that my friends from Gasface TV (Lyons, France) just happened to bump into DJ Stretch Armstrong while walking down Broadway and 116th st….right by Stretch and Bobbito’s old stomping ground (lol, and mine).
Stretch tells them about all the rappers who came through those WKCR Eighty-Nine-Tech-Nine….good times.

I love this! As a Columbia alum myself GO LIONS! I grew up on WKCR music and Stretch is one of my music heros the dude was so monumental in breaking so many NYC hip-hop legends how can you not respect the guy, and Cool bob is just that the coolest person I’ve ever met, he’s always in the L.E.S. the man is just the epitome of New York City.

had no idea that the stretch and bobbito show was CU radio thats really cool.. crazy how these institutions of higher education were just as influential to this movement as the streets were.. my boy goes to harvard and was telling me about drops he’s found from mad people including Inspectah Deck and Eazy-E from the 90s for harvard radio haha

DJ Stretch Armstrong and Bobito r legends to 90′s hiphop culture. i wish i could get tapes ( i guess maybe cd’s or mp3′s now…lol) of the show from like 94-97. ( on a side note i just said tapes and thought of this funny story , my girls lil brother is like 13 and one day he was helping me clean out my attic and i was going through all my old music boxes and i showed him a casset. he’s like “wtf is this?” 1. i never felt old before that moment. 2. i guess i know how it felt for some one to show me an a-trak and have me give them that look of utter amazement. moving on , i was like it’s a tape , it holds sound. then i had a few 60 minute tapes and he laughed his ass off at me. but not as hard as when i showed him my old walkman…times r a changen…
