Just got this statement from Cynthia Reed’s lawyer, Robert Riech….

Today, April 9, 2008, we have filed a lawsuit in New York State Supreme Court, New York County, on behalf of Cynthia Reed and her son, James Rosemond, against those defendants alleged in our civil complaint to be responsible for the assault and battery and false imprisonment of James. In our complaint, it is alleged that on March 20, 2007, at approximately 6 P.M. while on a public sidewalk, James, a then 14 year old boy, was attacked by G-Unit member Tony Yayo (aka Marvin Bernard), Lowell Fletcher and others simply because he was wearing a shirt displaying the name of a business rival. Yayo admitted in Criminal Court that he in fact violated New York State Penal Law when he harassed James and glared at him in a manner meant to threaten him. Fletcher admitted in Criminal Court that he in fact violated New York State Penal Law, while acting in concert with another, when he endangered the welfare of a child – James.

We have named in the complaint defendants Yayo and Fletcher, and two, as of yet, unnamed adults, who participated in the attack on James. Additionally, we have named as defendants those individuals, partners and corporations we allege are responsible for the actions of those who attacked James, including, Curtis Jackson (aka 50 Cent), G-Unit Records, Inc., Interscope Records, Inc., Shady Records, Inc., Universal Music Group, Inc., Violator Records, LLC., Violator Management, and Chris Lighty. We are seeking compensatory damages for the injuries suffered by James, as well as punitive damages for the attack upon a child by adult men.

Cynthia Reed
“My son James was 14 years old when he was attacked by Tony Yayo, Lowell
Fletcher and other adult men. Because of the injuries suffered by James, and the lack of remorse and arrogance displayed by Yayo, G-Unit and all named in the lawsuit, I feel obligated as a mother to bring this suit and obtain justice for my child. Even though Yayo plead guilty in Criminal Court to harassing my son and Fletcher plead guilty to endangering my son, neither Yayo nor G-Unit members have ever apologized to my son or me.”
