Gucci-Mania: Gucci x Drake song, and 3-part Cold War mixtape release
Posted by Miss Info under New Music , Things I Like[24] Comments
I know its 10-18, so I’m a day late, but I swear I have a good excuse….Burrr.
Yesterday, Gucci paid tribute to his old hustle spot, nicknamed “1017,” by dropping three mixtapes at 10:17 on 10/17. This being just 1 week after dropping him and DJ Drama’s Burrprint 3 mixtape, which to me, sufficient blanketed the skreets….but this guy is not in the business of restraint. And you have to think the imagery alone of a Cold War, is a statement on Gucci’s strategy for ATL/hoods in general domination.
I hear Gucci laughed off the fact that Drake kind of scooped him by leaking their collabo “In My Business” (along with 2 other songs) hours before the mixtapes dropped. Either way, I love the track (I think it may have been Sean Garrett’s first)….wonder who gets it for their album?

You can knock his lack of talent
you can knock his rap skills
his look
his vocab
BUT
you can’t knock his hustle & dedication

If I take myself out of my usual “I need lyrics” mind frame. I could definitely ride to some of this.
Street Cred….nice joint.
Gucci & Killer Mike = 🙂
Drake = 🙁
Sorry, Drake and the “streets” don’t mixed like Fox News and balanced journalism. I just cringe when he says certain things, like the N-word.
Anyway, I’ll download Drama’s mix first and give it an honest listen…..solely cuz Drama’s taste in women(Summer Walker) is top notch. 🙂
End of the world must be coming huh?…..I’m actually gonna listen to Gucci…..

I love Gucci’s vocab…there’s alot of repetition and some simplicity, but that doesnt really bother me. I think in the past it was the monotony of topics that did. Less so now. And much like Cam, I think there’s a general not-giving-a-f-about-the-norm which appeals to his cult following. In fact, there’s alot of similarities there.

“And you have to think the imagery alone of a Cold War, is a statement on Gucci’s strategy for ATL/hoods in general domination.”
i think thats kind of a stretch.. and is def giving Gucci too much intellectual credit.. the train of thought was definitely more like “buurrrrr.. its cold.. lets name this bitch the cold war!”

When I saw that pic of Gucci I thought that coat was Cam-like
also info your use of “burrr” made my day

“anyone ever tell you that you look like a struck match?”

Why release 1 crappy mixtape when you can drop 3. The only thing I can’t figure out what’s more annoying Drama’s screaming or Gucci’s sophomoric lyrics. Killer shows how southern rappers should be spittin.

but he wasn’t rapping about the streets. he was rapping about money…as usual.

oh side note: Killer Mike ripped that track open whooo wee(face scrunched up)

Funny thing is all you cats saying Gucci is garbage will be crying when he comes out and does 300k first week. Is he lyrically as fly as some others? Nah….but his hustle swag is on 100 million. He’s been on a number one record (Mario), about to have to have his own number one song (Wasted), and has put out 5 mixtapes in 3 weeks.
If you hate on that you’re just ridiculous.
October 18th, 2009 at 11:00 pm
I know. But in alignment with the song title “street cred” he does and has before spoken on or lets say touched on things that I personally find a lil suspect.
Just my option.

Gucci! He’s definitley doin his thing, and he’s been on his grind for quite sometime, and he stays in his lane.
October 19th, 2009 at 12:01 pm
I can accept Gucci for what he is and does/same as Plies and a few others. SUPER DEEP LYRICAL does not always equal HOT! Sorry backpackers but he’s headed up one way or another.
October 19th, 2009 at 12:18 pm
Somebody should slap the braids off Jim Jones everytime someone says no homo. Ugh. Grown ass nigs sayin that chit after every comment.
October 19th, 2009 at 12:58 pm
some people should not be allowed to wear fur coats and Gucci Mane is one of them lol
i cant listen to Gucci he makes me feel stupid.
October 19th, 2009 at 1:28 pm
same goes for the overly used “PAUSE”
October 19th, 2009 at 2:08 pm
I listen to Gucci and I know I am not stupid, if you feel stupid when you listen to Gucci than you are probably stupid. I have a masters degree and a great f-ing job to boot. Fuck all the haters, some of us Gucci fans like to party, we don’t need some deep thinking rap to say we are brilliant. This is that feel good Friday night, all day Saturday and into Sunday type of shit. Gucci, keep bringing that smoke.
October 19th, 2009 at 2:35 pm
I can’t even front Gucci be on his grind HARD and we can hate on his skillz, his vocab but on citas, his delivery and beats just gets em on the floor and hype. Head boopin, slur slang and he fly as hell. he fit his image, crazy outrageous. you gotta give it to him. and the indutry knows this, thats why he on 2-3 number singles this year already. dont hate, “i’m shitin on all these haters/ like i’m rappin on the toilet” LMAO.
