it’s called “The Grain” stupid, not go against the grain. Rza part’s retarded.

“Mighty Healthy”…. what a song. I remember the first time seeing the video (first time hearing the song as well) and my brain just MELTED. The beat, the swagger, the flows, the quotables, the intro “they just keep on killing and killing”… My brothers and I were saying that in our house for months. We still use that “they just keep on killing and killing” thing from time to time when we’re joking around and want to emphasize a certain point.
Then I saw “Apollo Kids” and it was wrap. It was that “Eureka” moment when I finally understood why people were saying Ghost was that dude, because I didn’t get his appeal earlier. Ironman was nice but Ghost’s artistic statement is Clientele.
And I agree with Ghost – the Apollo Kids video is one of the illest videos in hip hop history. Just the opening alone with Ghost taking off the mask to then rhyme with an ice cream mic…. genius.

by the way, am I crazy or does the video version of Mighty Healthy have a slightly-faster drum pattern? Like the beat/record was sped up just a bit? Something about the video version just seems to knock harder.
Maybe it’s just a Youtube compression thing, making the drums sound a little dustier than the actual record.

so basically ghost is admitting that supreme clientele is effectively dada art.

If they played that album on the radio, half of America would melt.
The word play dumps on anything out right now.

Yeah, for real. Kevin Nottingham’s shit is crucial. Then you release just how good the records are – Clientele was made from the finest ingredients. It takes good ingredients to make a good dish.
I love that “Aretha, Sing One for Me” joint that Ghost sampled for “Child’s Play.”
Here’s the million dollar question – Ghost’s “Child Play” has 2 beats. The first beat is obviously sampled from that George Jackson “Aretha” record. WHAT ABOUT THE SECOND BEAT? I really want to know where RZA got that from.

yo, being physically part of that whole camp at the time was the shit !!! Luv Ghost’s albums but Supreme Clientele was just so far left that it wasn’t funny. The video shoot 4 ChezChez La Ghost … was sick at the Park Meridian, between Ghost, X, and the Wu family, had a madd live time shooting, wish it could have lasted (DAM professor !!!) Ghost hit it right on the head, he did seem to just have fun with that whole album !!! I had/have some serious issues with main stream radio not spinnin’ that cd more, they mos def were hatin’ on the creativity !!! WU FOREVER !!! Oh, yea, Child’s Play was also a favorite … 1 …
