G-Dep Convicted of 1993 Murder in New York City

Earlier today, G-Dep was convicted for his role in the death of John Henkel in 1993. The former Bad Boy Records rapper was found guilty of second degree murder by the Supreme Criminal Court in Lower Manhattan, New York. While it’s still unclear as to how many years he’ll face, G-Dep’s attorney Anthony Ricco states he’ll possibly serve a minimum of 15-years to life in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for Tuesday, May 8. Back in December of 2010 G-Dep walked into NYC’s 25th Precinct and confessed to a murder he committed 17-years ago.

He technically didn’t go to the precinct to admit to the murder. He went to admit to shooting the guy, then when the cops looked up the case, come to find out that dude died from the gunshot. It was pretty much, “Oh, by the way, that guy that you’re confessing to shooting died because of you.”

If him confessing and turning himself in means he can sleep at night, get himself cleaned up, and be at peace with himself (even if it’s behind the wall), more power to him.

I really don’t think it works like that. Didn’t they try to turn around and plead Not Guilty after they found out the guy died?
