Funkmaster Flex premieres Shyne’s new song “Messiah”

Shyne Po blessed my big homie Funk Flex with the world premiere of his new single “Messiah” (this being the first real song to come from Shyne since his release from prison and deportation to Belize). You remember we broke the news that Po recently signed a big contract with Def Jam, and since then I’ve heard about some travel (Germany, then Mexico) and some staffing switches (hello, John-John). But there are some tunes to come that may shake things up ; )

MissInfo: ok, truth be told, I was having a great conversation about unconventional careers at a panel with Rik Cordero, Illmind, Jin, and David Liang up at Columbia U (thank you to the Taiwanese-American Students Association for inviting us)….so I wasn’t online when those NMC boys scooped the premiere of “Messiah.” But thank you to Legend for the assist. I did see some of the comments so far, both below and on twitter and all I can say is…yikes. But I’m gonna keep an open mind.)
Update: Shyne gave this freestyle over Rihanna’s “Rude Boy” to Rahman at MTV…..its more uptempo than “Messiah”….listen to it after the jump

This track produced by Lpeezy maybe too gritty for some but Shyne’s lyrics are still gritty the same…

Sounds like lyrically he’s still tight but that flow right there lacks so much enthusiasm. He sounds bored as hell which makes me bored as hell!

Truth be told, Shyne was never that great of an MC. As far as I’m concerned he was alright and a one hit wonder. What separated him from other rappers was that he sounded like BIG and Diddy’s touch (production, hype, etc). I was never a fan of his past music, IMO the only classic he had was “Bad Boyz”. I do however respect him as a man for busting his gun and doing his time like a man and I wish him luck on his future endeavors but this song is pathetic, his voice and flow is horrible. I kinda expected this but hoped I was wrong.
BTW, expect LA Reid to get fired for this.

This song won’t even make top ten in itunes. PLus he no longer in New York. Can’t even enter the country yet but you mentioning NY….. That first verse would have been good in a remix. The chorus/hook was garbage….. It would have sound betta if he said “really thou, just got out the pen/make it seem simple thou/already made a millie thou/u wanna go against me? “really thou”? I guess that’s what I would have said..
He gonna have to bang out 5 more tracks and see where he stands…. Plus eventually some new artist is gonna go at him and take his shyne.

I have always been a Shyne fan, Shyne is sick as fuck, don’t front… first of all this beat is wack, second he does sound like that Rick Ross impersonator, if you listen to the actual lyrics… they are pretty good, better lyrics than 90% of the shit out right now, beamer benz or bentley is catchy but the lyrics are MIA! My advice is Shyne just needs to be Shyne and flow like he used to, lyrics are on point. Get some better beats! SHYNE PO!!!

I was hoping that Khaled song was a joke but sad to say that it wasn’t. This is hard to listen to. I got through the first verse and hook, but that’s all I could stand. It sounds like he just smoked mad cigarettes and lost his lower lip in prison LOL. “Shyne” is still one of my favorit albums, but it seems the Shyne of today has fallen off.
