Well, they finally got him. After a 16-year manhunt, the FBI has apprehended Boston Mob Boss James “Whitey” Bulger. You probably remember his character being depicted by Jack Nicholson in the 2006 film, The Departed, one of my favs. From about 1979 up until 1995, when he went on the run (actually I’m sure he was still in power after), Whitey was the top dog in South Boston’s Winter Hill Gang. But on top of that, he was actually a high level government informant at the same time. A rat.

The ruthless criminals were made up of mostly Irish-American dudes with a few Italians in the mix. They basically killed mad people, extorted, sold drugs and all kinds of other dirt. He was wanted for his role in 19 murders and countless other crimes. But they finally captured him, son. “Whitey Back”

Notorious Boston Mob kingpin James “Whitey” Bulger has finally been busted near Los Angeles, ending a 16-year manhunt that had proved a major black-eye for the FBI. The Feds finally caught up with the 81-year-old fugitive Wednesday at a Santa Monica home where he was living with his long-time gal-pal Catherine Greig. The arrest comes days after the FBI launched a renewed publicity campaign to locate the long-missing mobster, which led to a key tip, officials said.- NY Daily News
