From “The Wire” to the ‘Stuy: Jamie Hector already cast in the Biggie biopic?
Posted by Miss Info under quotes[13] Comments
So the best part of this month’s Vibe Magazine, no disrespect to Bob and Curtis and their cutaway collars and wide-knot ties, was a juicy nugget tucked in the flip-over 2008 hot list….folded into a short profile of actor Jamie Hector…..breezily noted in a line about Hector’s future projects.
“He’ll also play Christopher “Notorious B.I.G.” Wallace’s childhood friend Damien “D-Roc” Butler in the upcoming Biggie biopic Notorious (Fox Searchlight, 2009).”
WHA?! HUH?! That’s an interesting development to me……1) because now I wonder who else has been cast. 2) because it means that rather than go with physical matches to the real-life counterparts, the filmmakers seem to be going for something else. 3) Having known D-Roc (hold your head, D) for many years, I’m very interested to see how Jamie Hector handles the role. Where Jamie seems to excel at silence and subtlety, D-Roc is a big guy with a big personality.
I wonder if Jamie was hand-picked by D-Roc after he provided the narration for D-Roc’s recent Life After Death DVD? I think D is still incarcerated but maybe he expressed a preference to Ms. Wallace and Wayne Barrow, who are the executive producers of that Biggie movie.
(D-Roc is the guy on the right with the glasses.)

I watched episode 6 last night, weird, it came out a day earlier.
Any idea who will be playing Biggie? Whoever it is, he will make or break this film. I hope no one will be playing themselves…*ahem* Diddy.

….um…that’s interesting. As long as the Biggie movie is done well, I don’t care. Jamie creeps me out simply because of Marlo, but I hear he’s actually really nice. Well, I also heard he’s gay, but that’s none of my business. He got a role on the next season of Heroes too as some guy named Benjamin…probably a villian.

R.I.P Big Pun, but the space could be used for a rapper who matters now! A platinum record doesn’t make you worthy of an article. Besides, this blog was about Jamie Hector, not Big Pun.

I think D-Roc’s wife April Maiya directed the DVD and casted Jamie as the narrator and they liked him for the movie. It’s a good choice because Jamie is a good actor, at least they aren’t casting rappers to act! I really hope the movie does B.I.G. and NY justice!

This dudes gonna have to eat a LOTTA cheeseburgers to fit those shoes, LMAO. Id love to do that, but sadly Id look pretty dumb considering Im white and Australian. Cant wait for the movie but we’ll no doubt have to wait the usual delay before it comes down under. I want a worldwide release dammit!!! Im positively chomping for the Juice Crew flick as well. And the new batman. RIP Heath.
