French Montana Announces Bad Boy Signing, Debuts “Shot Caller” Video With Diddy
Posted by Mr.North under hmmm....? , interview , videos[14] Comments
While it was a badly kept “secret” and pretty much confirmed here, French Montana is now the new member of Bad Boy Records. Following much speculation of joining the likes of Kanye West at G.O.O.D. Music and Rick Ross at Maybach Music Group, Diddy announced his new signee tonight on BET’s 106 & Park. Meanwhile, French world premiered his video for ”Shot Caller” featuring Charlie Rock, which you can watch above.
French on aligning with Puff:
“I really feel real good that’s why I kept it here in New York. Why would I take my talent to South Beach? When I met with Puff and sat down and really spoke, he told me a couple of things and [he] never lied to me about nothing and always kept his word. It is what it is. It’s New York. I want to bring it back to New York.”

He’s album would’ve came out if he signed to MMG, might’ve come out if he signed to G.O.O.D. Music, probably will never come out signed to Bad Boy

This is diddy’s evil plan so we never have to endure listening to a French’s Album. To me is is more like a good piece of a large crew, I’m still very skeptical of him as a solo artist. He clearly has a lot of intangibles and dudes in the industry like him. But will he be able to produce? I highly doubt it given Diddy’s long history of not developing artist so they could have longevity in the game. We will see. Best wishes though.

I liked him better with max-b. I think french has potential but You nailed it; I Don’t think i could listen to an entire album of him not to his latest work at least. Unless hes unfolding his own personal story I don’t see why sign to bad boy.I enjoyed his mix tapes when max-b was on them for the most part.
Puffy is a opportunist lets hope french doesn’t turn into the next loon. He should have went to good music or MMG.

He made the right choice because Diddy has no artists with a buzz right now. Diddy is his only real chance to be catered/pandered to because all of these other labels who were allegedly vying for him, would be placing him at the end of long lines to be worked on. Puff knows the deal now, he’s been waiting for an opp’ to redeem himself since the Lox but ain’t nobody want to f ck with him except reality show groupies and broke kids. Plus he knows better than to mess with any more street dudes and NOT produce. He’s lucky them Yonkers boys ain’t teach him a few street lessons…allegedly.
