Gabz says: I had the pleasure of attending Frank Ocean’s first UK show last night. His set clocked in at just over an hour, and he performed fa  favorites, including “Thinking of You,” “Novacane,” “Songs for Women,” and “Swim Good,” which ended with an impressive crowd sing-a-long. He was playful with the audience, playing guitar hero during “American Wedding” and singing directly at the mostly female audience, eliciting shrieking fans to enter hysteria. There were points when I wondered if this is what it was like to see The Beatles in the 60s, in terms of how nuts the girls were going every time he smiled.

Frank also performed his ‘Watch the Throne’ features and some new songs. My favorite was “Real Love,” on which the shy singer mused about:”Too many white lies and white lines / Super rich kids with nothing but loose ends / Super rich kids with nothing but fake friends” — perhaps a reference to experiences with his new found celebrity. On another new song, he sings, “Label hoes be stealin’ my shit,” though it is unclear what or who he was addressing. Spotted in the audience: Tim Westwood and UK artists Mr. Hudson and Emeli Sande. Overall, the set didn’t disappoint and I expect big things from Mr. Ocean in future…provided he doesn’t keep cancelling shows!
