Rapper Jamal “Mazeradi Fox” Green was gunned down in the St. Albans area of Queens, New York on Friday afternoon. The NY Daily News reports that the 42-year-old was sitting in his SUV when a masked gunman opened fired on Fox and three other passengers around 4:10 p.m. EST.

Fox stumbled out of the vehicle and collapsed in a nearby driveway, as the three remaining victims were taken to a local hospital in Jamaica, Queens. A native of Southside Jamaica, Queens, Fox was released from prison on December 20 after serving two years in prison for an attempted assault. Last May, a 14-year-old girl by the name of D’Aja Robinson, was hot dead while riding on a city bus in Jamaica, Queens. Fox, who was raising the girl, was considered by many to be D’Aja’s stepfather.
On the music side, Mazeradi Fox was a childhood friend of 50 Cent and was affiliated with G-Unit Records during its rise through the mid-2000s (50 paid for D’Aja’s carriage during the funeral in May). Both 50 Cent and Tony Yayo reacted on Twitter to the sad news, along with a released statement via a rep.
“50 Cent was in his New York studio and was saddened when he heard the news. He sends his condolences to Mazaradi’s family.”
