dr dre forbes cash kings

Forbes announced the Cash Kings 2014 — the list of the highest-paid hip-hop artists of the year — this morning, and you can probably hazard a guess who’s number one. That’s right: the artist with the least amount of actual music, Dr. Dre.

After coming in at a close third last year, the Doctor has pretty much cakewalked his way to the top with a whopping $620 million in earnings over the last calendar. Not only is that the highest amount the Cash Kings list has ever seen, it’s more than the combined earnings of all 24 of his peers on the list. Of course, he can thank Apple’s $3 billion takeover of Beats for that.

Meanwhile, regular contenders Jay Z and Diddy are tied in second place with $60 million earnings each, while Drake and Macklemore round out the top five as they both triple their respective income from 2013.
