The hype on this movie is insane, as we discussed in last month’s Comic-con post. And it certainly looks lush, so I can imagine how much better it will look in 3-D. Will this be the movie that we hoped Star Wars Episode I, II and III would be?

hayden….worst actor ever! aghaghaaha. ruined the whole trilogy. And for all the industrial lights and magic they were doing…it felt cold and uninspiring. By all the hype, folks are acting like Avatar is gonna be the Star Wars of this gen. If that’s the case the story has to really be something. we’ll see. I wish I could host a screening or something, lol

totally agree with u!!! plus is this a cartoon or live action? mixing both kinda seems like we getn a more sophisticated roger rabbit, wer they mix toons with live action. NOT IMPRESSED

Episode III was kinda trashed even thought I wouldn’t admit it when it came out so sad what they did to the epic i grew up with but as for your statement I kinda feel like Lord Of The Rings trilogy was the Star Wars of this generation though not science fiction still an adventure theme and just as big a deal when it came out and I’ve gotta say it that trilogy was much better then star wars prequel trilogy now we can only hope it continues with the hobbit but I doubt it as for Avatar I’m familiar with it being a sci-fi looser that I am but can’t say I’m really up on it but I’m sure I will be by the time it comes out and I will be seeing it but the trailer kinda looks like the trailer of a P23 game or something I’m not as impressed as you seem to be yet but we’ll see

time for nerd mode. let me slip into my voltron underoos. ok. avatar has shattered my jim cameron loving dork heart. allllllllll of the hype, allllll of the secrecy for that trailer. wtf? photoreal? yea right. the character design is wrong, the lighting seems off and there’s a man in a wheelchair in the 28th century. again, wtf? i won’t start on star wars ep. 3. if i do i will explode into dork dust.

Ok guys let me break it down… This Avatar is not the one that most are thinking of(The cartoon). This one was the guy who made titanic big epic movie.(IMO im not impressed looks like Delgo-look it up lol).
The Avatar(cartoon from nick) will be coming out next year under the name The Last Airbender and that trailer(which is out) looks alot more exciting and than this and its only about 1 minute long…

yeah anyone who cares anything about avatar knows the difference. i was sooooo peeved when i heard james cameron was getting to do this video with the avatar name when everyone knew that they were looking to do a avatar last airbender video especially because the series was coming to an end. oh well. i saw the clip and although it was soooooo hyped i’m still excited because i want to see how the whole story panns out. i mostly like the tech/design protion of the film and i could care less about the story line, but if the story doesn’t work then nothing else does and i don’t want to watch another transformers or too fast too furious or that tom cruise dakota fanning film about the end of the world. i hope nightatmountshamalan dude does avatar last airbender justice.
i was also excited about prince of persia because i knew how hard they fought to get that made and i’ve been watching all the preproduction planning for a couple years now…and then they cast it and i don’t know but i agree with a lot of people that they didn’t cast the main character right. oh well. oh and i’m pissed about green lantern too. wtf. how’s ryan reynolds gonna be all these mother f’n comic characters.

seems all the secrecy behind the Navi alien designs results in a quiet….Meh.
this does not bode well to the over 19 demographic.
As a 3d artist / game developer for 17 yrs
this work is top notch.
The artist on the project some of the best in the world.
If you think you’ve seen this level of detail before on screen you are fooling yourself.
My guess is that they (the Navi) are too familiar to us, dare i say not alien enough.
there’s a softness to the character renders equal to our own.
that said…they HAVE to sell toys.
anything TOO alien will scare the shit out of half your target audience.
How many parents are gonna buy characters of a new IP / movie if they cant be described in five words or less?

the story/plot (if you could even call it so) is dumb, unbelievable and 1:1 copy paste from a lots of other movies that went the exact same path like who dances with wolfs (and did a much better job) – after 10 minutes of the movie i could already EXACTLY predict what would happen and how it would happen – plain boring the characters are absolutely flat, unbelievable and stereotype and you feel no empathy or sympathy for any of them – the main character sully is completely unbelievable and dumb – the other characters are so stereotype that a 10 year old could have come up with them – you got the mad army chief, the jealous rival, the love which looses trust in you and then gains it back..i mean come on – seriously??? what annoyed me the most – if you base your movie solely on pretty pictures then these need to blow me away – this simply didn’t happen, one reason for this is also the lack of fantasy in the movies…
