SIDENOTE: If Cam’s “Oh Boy” isn’t on the final list it’s only because nobody could get a hold of him to get the song clearance. Dang.

I remember watching this video when it came out when I was ~7 years old. I thought it was the coolest thing ever, however now I wish I would have been old enough to appreciate the message behind the song

How does Run DMC’s “Rock Box” not make the top five I would take that over “Fight the Power” anyday, no disrespect to Public Enemy.

They stay trying to drum up conversation with these lists that no one person or group can quantify.Theres always a missing factor no matter what they do.Curious where Wu Tang, Ice Cube and Big Pun are on the list.

“they want the boy montana wit guns and bandanas…” they should get the Ego Trip folks back together for this kind of list. That 5 part minorities in the media special they did a few years back was great social critique. Info you were on that one right?

These lists are made up by white people on VH1, let the people decide the best songs instead a corny tv station that used to play alternative rock.

No Biggie song in the top 20???? That discredits the whole list right there…honeslty…Rappers that made the top 20 would take their song out and at least put a B.I.G song in there…
‘fckouttahare!
And Miss Info…I’m thinking that was a joke…hoping. “Oh Boy” was like the new millenium’s “Ice Ice Baby”…

I usually hate doing this, but let’s get through with it – let’s see what we’re missing: any Gang Starr, Jeru, Pharcyde, Tuff Crew, Main Source, anything out of the entire DITC family that’s not Joe, Brand Nubian, UMC’s, BCC… yeah this list is kinda depressing.
Also, this is my first/only post here, so thanks and keep up the good work, Info.

I can think of a few songs I would put above “fight the power”. Co-sign #7 “The Message” should def be no.1.
That list is hilarious. “Lean Back” is above “A children’s story”. “What u know” is above “T.R.O.Y”. “Who’s that girl” , “LapDance” & “oh Boy” are listed, but not “NY State of Mind”, “If I Ruled the World” “I ain’t no joke” or “memory Lane”. I’m not even the biggest hip hop head, but that shit needs to be addressed lol

I think “The Message” should be no. 1 also. “Fight the Power” shoud’ve been the first rap song to get an damn Oscar (Do the right thing) but I just think that the message shifted the artform in a way that helped give social it weight and cultural longevity. I don’t think many songs shifted hip-hop like that, except maybe “G-thang” (for better or for worse) and rapper’s delight, but that song has writing issues!lol. and are these just songs that had videos or songs in general?

What the fuck kind of retarded arbitrary list is that? I know I’m late but I just caught a couple installments of this nonsense on TV last night. I don’t even know where to start or end, but as an especially glaring foul; how do you have “I Get The Job Done” above “Aint No Half Steppin’” or even “Raw?” Who made this bullshit up?

Why in the hell is Pac not in the top ten that’s some straight up bull and out of all the songs why would they use I get around. Dont get me wrong I love I get around but at the end of the day its all about to keep yo head. O yeah I forgot alot of people still want to remember pac as a negative influence instead of giving him his props for all the positive things he said and did.
