Fashawn has always worn his love for Fresno on his sleeve, and on his new single, he’s putting his hometown on his back. In the video for “Mother Amerikkka,” Fash highlights the drugs, poverty and homelessness that have plagued his city while using unrequited love between a mother and her child as a metaphor for his people’s relationship with America. Amidst the brutality are also small moments of beauty, though, whether it’s spirituality, community or music.

“Mother Amerikkka” is our first taste of Fashawn’s upcoming Manna EP, which drops August 18 via Mass Appeal Records.
