Fascinating news coverage of Shyne’s first day in Belize

(photos of Shyne at the Belize City youth hostel…talking to residents and staff)
According to media outlets in Belize, Shyne arrived in Belize City airport on Weds afternoon…and here are some details…After leaving the airport, Shyne went straight to talk to kids at the Princess Royal Youth Hostel…and talked to the residents about some of his past transgressions. Meanwhile, Channel Five Belize documented Shyne’s reunion with his family, as well as his immediate plan, and why he’s renting out a whole floor at the Radisson….
Shyne emerged from the plane in a Harvard Law School sweat shirt and a pair of headphones around his neck. The rapper sported a full head of parted hair. He was hugged first by his godmother then his manager and others including one of his attorneys, Oscar Michelin, followed by Pulu Lightburn. Emerging to meet him at the stairs of the VIP room was his mother Imeon Myvette. She escorted him inside for the processing of his freedom on Belizean soil. After greeting with his father in the privacy of V.I.P. area, Shyne’s uncle, Michael Finnegan, gave the media an update on his status.
Michael Finnegan, Shyne’s Uncle
“Shyne is home. He wants to say how happy he is to be home and to be a free man. He would love to have a conversation with the media but because he was legally advised by Professor Ogletree, he must not speak to the media because he doesn’t want to prejudice his situation any at all with the US government or with the Belize government. So he asked me to ask you that he don’t want to disrespect you the media, but please to understand what is going on. You could see the tears in his eyes as they hugged and the romantic situation in there especially with his Grandmother and with his father, with his younger brother Anwar, they hugged and neva want let go one another.”
More details about Shyne’s first day back with family after the jump…. (PS: Big up to reader Eddie for the link)
Jose Sanchez [Channel 5]
“Will there be a family dinner tonight with everybody, father included?”Michael Finnegan
“No, there will be no—we are not a formal kind of people so we will play it by ear. His residence at my place is two weeks away from completion so he has rented a complete floor at Radisson Fort George Hotel. So every room on a floor was taken by him whether ih wah use it or noh use it. He said that after going through the eight and a half years he has gone through, he needs some privacy, he needs noh to deh round nobody, he needs just to sit down in isolation and contemplate his life. And I think that we need to respect that. If you notice, he has lost an extreme amount of weight.”Jose Sanchez [Channel 5]
“As uncle what were your first words to him?”Michael Finnegan
“come yah old bwai. That’s all I said to him cause when he was small and di raise ah I used to call ah old fart. So come yah old fart, come yah old bwai. Dat dah di way we greet one another when we talk on di phone. But he’s in good spirit, he is in good health but he is a bit frail.”Shyne, in the company of his brother Anwar, left the airport in a red Ford Expedition towards the Youth Hostel on the Western Highway where he gave a pep talk to youths. Like the prodigal son, the former bad boy, returned home to open arms….”

I hope Shyne has fun relaxing for a while, but then eventually returns to music. But first he probably should just take it easy after 9 years of torture.

“Money is power motherfucker
I got millions of thugs on salary, bitch (do it now)” – Puffy
I don’t care what anyone says but Puff definitely did this brother dirty. Puff screaming on Hate Me Now, how he got thugs on salary, yet when they bust they gun for him, he act like he don’t know them anymore. Dude could’ve reached out to him, but on the other hand, who would want that after they didn’t want to be your co-de in court.
Shyne is showing & proving he’s learned from his mistake and finally got positive people in his corner, who truly care about his well being. Dude could’ve came out on some fuck the world shit, but he’s staying positive. Sometimes you gotta go thru just to come out right!

He has good people, a side of a family he didn’t spend time with before. As a Belizean I want to point out that his voice is his father’s voice. It is 100 Barrow. So those who didn’t like his voice sounding like biggie, need to hear his father. I think maybe that powerful speech made them both Shyne, dad is the Prime Minister, isn’t he?

Sadly I don’t think Shyne will step foot on American soil again. He’s a violent felon and he is NOT a US citizen. Once an illegal commits a felony (especially a violent felony) all bets are off. Just because he made a couple albums doesn’t put him above the laws of the United States. Also, you have to understand that these laws are being strictly enforced since 9/11. It is what it is.
I was never a Shyne fan musically (thought he was extremely overrated as a lyricist) but in reading interviews with him he seemed like an intelligent kid (emphasis on KID) who got really caught up in the Puffy/Bad Boy matrix and got fucked over terribly in the process. It’s a sad situation for him. Lost 10 years of his freedom AND his country of residence fucking around with Puffy and his bullshit.
One last thing, I think it’s pretty presumptuous to think that Shyne even WANTS to rap anymore. I’m sure he’ll eventually spit a few things but it’s been 10 years of hell for this guy. He is not the person he was when he went inside. He went in as a 19 year old child and has come out as a 30 year old man. I’m sure his dreams and aspirations far exceed wanting to make a fucking rap album now. I think he’ll end up doing much bigger and better things than that. God Bless him.

Good to hear he doing well & in good spirits! As much as I want to hear him rap again I think it’s better he takes as much time off as he wants after losing nearly 10 years of his life! Plus as much as some of us would not want that to happen he may suprise & not want to rap again! Best part is that he’s free & with his family though because friends & aquaintances come & go but you will always have family! Which is why family is the most important thing in life!

Did u know that slick rick actually shot people and wasn’t a citizen ? They didn’t deport him ! People please do some research or something before you make comments damm ! This deportation is more about you didnt cooperate so now we give you hell! There are plenty of people here now who have commited crimes and not citizens been locked up and are still here !

Secret
True Rick is still here but what happened is he went from jail to immirgration jail and ended up spending a lot of time there. I believe he ended going back to England for a few too. I think Rick ended up doing a total of 10-12 years combined. ANd he had the ax hanging over his head for a long time. I don’t know enough about the two cases to speak on the differences but Rick had a really hard way to go before it all worked out. Slso Rick was a MUCH bigger artist than Shyne for what that’s worth.
I just don’t think Shyne will be back.

governor patterson pardoned slick rick. so, his situation is different from shyne’s. if shyne is able to get a pardon, that would make it easier for shyne to appeal his case to an immigration court and possibly get the deportation order reversed.

Squizzy…take it down a notch. Everybody is familiar with the Slick Rick case. But, they were two TOTALLY different types of shootings. Rick shot a family associate in a pretty isolated incident. No lives were in danger. Shyne is my man and all, but he shot strangers, in public, in a crowded venue. Rick also had a family here in the states, owned property, etc. Plus, I’m not sure Rick immigrated illegaly. Maybe he stayed illegally. Not sure under what circumstances Shyne came, but that matters. And from where. England > Belize immigration wise. Sucks.

first things first , his pops is the PRIME MINISTER of the country he’s in right now. second , it’s horrible how he got caught up in puffys mess , but when u lay with dogs u catch flee’s… second , he shouldent ever rap again , just be a sppoken word poet and travel all over the world except the u.s.a. obviously. he’s free , has money , family and a father in power. i think it’s safe to say after them 10 years , he’s in a much better place then he was before.
