Today marks the 20-year anniversary of The Notorious B.I.G.’s death. In honor of her late husband, Faith Evans will be releasing The King & I duet LP with Biggie, set to drop this spring on May 19. Biggie’s mother (Voletta Wallace), The LOX, Lil’ Kim, Lil’ Cease, Busta Rhymes, 112, and Kevin McCall all make guest appearances on the collaborative album, lead by the singles “NYC” featuring Jadakiss and “When We Party” with Snoop Dogg. DJ Premier, Just Blaze, Salaam Remi, Stevie J and Chucky Thompson lead an all-star cast of producers.
On the anniversary, Faith gives Billboard the green light to debut the album artwork. “I remember telling Ms. Wallace [Biggie’s mother] that one day it would be really dope if I could do something similar to Natalie and Nat King Cole’s ‘Unforgettable’,” says Evans. “Knowing the love that B.I.G. had for [daughter Tyanna] and Ceejay [his son with Evans, Christopher Wallace Jr.], I feel it’s my duty to uphold and extend his legacy, especially his musical contributions. This project is my creative reflection of the love we had and the bond we will always have.”
