After this past weekend’s warm fuzzy hug that was the 50 Festival concert event at Governor’s Island, featuring everyone from D-Block to Slaughterhouse to Jimmy and Juelz to Maino and more …Fabolous made an observation on his blog twitter about how this marks an interesting change in the longtime Boogey Man of NYC rap. Fab also followed up with retweets of readers with insightful comments (like here and here).

And of course….Fif responded with a statement:

Reading what Fab said about me on Twitter was disappointing.
I have extended myself to Fab personally to allow him to expand himself as an international Touring Artist.
I Thought we were Friends but that’s cool.

Law #2: Never put too much trust in Friends, Learn how to use Enemies
Be wary of friends—they will betray you more quickly, for they are easily aroused to envy. They also become spoiled and tyrannical. But hire a former enemy and he will be more loyal than a friend, because he has more to prove. In fact, you have more to fear from friends than from enemies. If you have no enemies, find a way to make them.
50th Law of Power.
Am I 50 Cent or Am I Machiavelli? Dammmm!!!

Truthfully, I don’t see what Fab wrote as the contradiction of him and 50’s “friendship,” because it is rooted in historic truth. But we all know there is a tacit rule that says “Rappers shalt not talk about one other in any way unless it is a shoutout.” lol.  And you guys know, I’d rather see celebs voicing unpopular opinions than no opinions…PS: twitter has been quite the fertilizer for Fab ; )

UPDATE: Inside sources say that Fab was actually invited to take part in 50’s concert event but that he never responded. Do you think this has something to do with his twitter-punditry about it after the fact? That would explain why 50 Cent would feel “disappointed” by the unsolicited commentary. And I also want to point out…that in reading the first twitter from Fab, it seems that he’s not just pointing out that 50 was known for being an instigator. But he’s also blaming 50 for New York’s “crumbling” hip hop scene….this is an extreme exaggeration. So, I gotta retract what I said about “historic truth.” Hey, I can admit when I’m wrong.
