Fabolous responds to 50’s reponse to Fab’s reaction…to 50 Fest
Posted by Miss Info under beef , concerts , hmmm....? , photos , quotes[82] Comments

(Trey Songz and Fabolous at yesterday’s shoot for “Say Ahh” in Brooklyn. Thanks RealTalkNY)
Thanks to RickFromChicago who actually runs the Toronto blog the3XGP.com, and DJ Glew who interviewed Fabolous. They talked about Fab’s twitter campaigns, etc, but here, Fab pulls no punches when addressing the 50 Cent debate:
DJ GLEW: On Twitter you said: “Its interesting to c 50 Cent unite wit NY artists when he’s 1 of the reasons NY hip hop became so isolated & crumbled”…
FABOLOUS: I think that if you were to ask 50 a couple years ago if you were to do a show with those people he would have said no. It was interesting to me. I actually was invited to do the show as well but I had a prior show so I couldn’t make it. He had these hopes up [huh? Is this a misprint?] and he had really isolated himself with G-Unit when he first came out. He didn’t mix well with other artists and rappers unless it was Eminem, Dr. Dre, Lloyd Banks, Tony Yayo, and whoever was affiliated with him. He use to offer if you wanted to come be with him then you can come be with him and get money but other than that he wouldn’t rock with you. He hasn’t had many collaborations other than on his songs and this is why I found it interesting and out of no where they put together this show with New York rappers and Hip Hop which is great. But it’s kind of this destroy and rebuild situation.
DJ GLEW: Do you think it’s because of the lack of interest people are showing him now? Do you think he’s trying to do the DJ Khaled unity thing?***
FABOLOUS: I don’t really think he’s trying to do that. I don’t really know what’s going on in 50’s head of why he actually did it…(cont.)
(Read more after the jump…and see more pics from the Trey Songz/Fab “Say Ahh” videoshoot…***btw what is the “DJ Khaled unity thing”?)
Fabolous talks to DJ Glew, continued….
FABOLOUS:….But I put it out there for a topic of discussion and people had different perspectives on it. Some people said it might have been another one of his marketing things or publicity stunts. Other people said maybe he’s growing up and done beefing with certain people. I just put it out there for a topic of discussion and I wasn’t taking shots at him. I think certain people misunderstood in blogs and emails. Blogs will sort of take it and twist it in another way.*** But what I really did was put it out there like how a talk show would sensationalize or put shock value to it. But it would be something that would have been a conversation in the barbershop. But that’s what Twitter is, it’s like a big humongous barbershop where everyone puts in what they think. So that’s what I did when I woke up this morning and I saw something online about it. It just happened this weekend so I usually just speak about things that are relevant at the time.
***I hope that Fab knows that while yes, there are definitely ways in which “blogs” can manipulate quotes etc….in this particular situation, and on this particular blog…the tweets were verbatim, in fact, they were screengrabs. There was no alteration of context or content. So the only subjective part was the editorial part of the post…and that’s not the same as “twisting” facts. That’s opinion…on an opinion.**
More of Nigel’s pics from the “Say Ahh” videoshoot on Weds.

Fab’s being truthfully and straight forward. But he has to admit, be it even on an internal level, that to say that any person in NY is a reason for the lack of unity in the area, especially being the “birth place” of the genre in question. He knew he was pushing a button. Maybe it wasn’t a Wendy Williams level hype up but it’s not like it was a private email that leaked.
If he sees himself as a mock talk show host “throwing things out there” I’m gonna assume he knew what he was opening himself up too.

Ok so now Fab is the victim… ok.. I’ll buy that!!
If he wasn’t taking shots then why mention 50 book?
Jay and Nas can beef on a very personal disrespectful level and put that aside and thats ok? But 50 can have issues with the Lox and do a show with them and it gets this much thought? 50 DIDNT HAVE ISSUE WITH DIPSET HE HAD ISSUES WITH CAM MAJOR DIFFERENCE AS WE NOW SEE!!
And fab is confused by people saying he’s hating and taking shot?
A marketing stunt fab really? Maybe the 5 Burroughs Tour for the curtis was a publicity stunt but this? Come on man.. punks need to stop 50 hatten
I bet if you asked Jay-Z during either if he would be doing anything with Nas he would have said no sorry Fab “HELL NO”..
Fab and Jay are best buddies, Jay does a hook for fab album AND NOTHING ELSE FOR ANY OTHER NY ARTIST… Jay and 50 starts the beef dance and now Fab has a fucking opinion!!
Really… fucking payola its all payola!!

Listen,
Anything concerning 50 is going to be surrounded by controversy, 50 is a controversy rapper.
I understand Fab completely, being that 50’s career began on beefing with he’s fellow NY rappers and continued it with what SOME may consider destroying the NYC rap scene. It’s obvious that 50 does have a lot of people that dislike him but I doubt Fab’s intentions were to take stabs at him.
“Its interesting to c 50 Cent unite wit NY artists when he’s 1 of the reasons NY hip hop became so isolated & crumbled”…
I don’t see the maliciousness in this statement. Especially being on a forum such as twitter where the main focus is to express your thoughts and get feedback, which is what Fab did. Personally When I saw that 50 Cent was doing this with NY artists…I was thought it was more than interesting…my thoughts were “what’s that catch”
No offense to 50, I respect his career, resilience and intellect as a businessman but, he has pigeon holed himself as unapproachable “aka” a dickhead. I mean considering his circumstances I completely understand the necessity for his demeanor but with that said he’s got to understand people being weary of him.

I’m not buying what Fab’s selling. After all, a commenter on this blog dug up an article where Fab talked about how 50 reached out to him and invited him to tour in Europe back in the day. So if 50 did that back then, how can Fab justify his comment that 50 did not reach out to other artists besides those on the Interscope/G-Unit roster? Am I off key?

nope, your not off key. fif had fab on tour with him back in the day. rememeber the whoo kid mixtapes with fab on them. fif always looked out for fab. But apparently fab forgot that, doesn’t care, or had his own shifty intentions. I think this should prove to people why fifty doesn’t trust other rappers…

Fab meant that 50 didn’t help nobody in the stage of his career where he could do no wrong because he was so big. I believe the offer to fab was given around the curtis album when 50 started to fall off.

Fab was running around with 50 on tour around the gunit group album. him and banks did a song that didn’t make the album but was all over the web. him and banks did alot of work together through mixtapes (they had a song with busta together). 50 helped: Young Buck, Game, LLoyd Banks, and Yayo…people forget they all went platinum based off of 50…most artists put out like 3 or 4 solo albums before there crew. Fif only put out one….name another artists that put out their crew after thier first album? No one cause they were selfish…fif did and he’s the wrong one…come on man…stop the bullshit and look at the facts….

You’re right they all went platinum off of 50’s formula
The ‘Hustle he was already on’
via ‘Mixtape 50′ buzz
That why u had Best of Banks & Best of Yayo Mixtapes Before they even had a deal. That engine made Those niggaz platinum artist
But look at Banks, Yayo, Bucks & Games Sophmore LP’s. Look at MoBB Deeps 1st G-Unit LP.

Salute to fab for being the only rapper to see 50 for what he is- MAD SOFT. 50’s probably got 5 collabs outside of Shady aftermath. Then only interest in him after the shooting and the first album(shady/aftermath) was his affiliation with Em And Dre. HE makes CARTOONS to respond, He thinks hes bigger than Dre, Em,Nas and Jay???, got outshined by GAME, he only sounds good next to YAYO!!! he lost to KANYE and HE HAS BECOME JA RULE A RNB RAPPER

I think we in hip hop, be it the fans, media, or artists automatically take things to be “he’s taking shots at so and so”. We’ve been trained to not give benefit of the doubt, but to look for the “subliminal” stab like “Yo, he said ice cream, he’s taking a stab at the Wu!!!” Hopefully we can get to a point where there is open discussion, especially from artist/producers perspective without it becoming a “situation”.

Yes…
However, those blogs and bloggers are typically uneducated people with a computer just posting whatever they can for hits and money.
What you guys have to understand is that MISS INFO IS NOT THAT!!!
Miss Info is a journalist! A real journalist, with an education and respect for journalism and understands how much damage “irresponsible journalism” can do to the public and public opinion.
This is why most real journalist (like miss info) try there best to be as objective as possible and NOT put false, or biased opinions out too much. Get it? In this business all you have is your reputation and resources. Being biased and fake can only get you so far. It can open a couple windows, but eventually its gonna close a lot of doors.

I think readers confuse blogs sites with news sites. Blogs are for the host and their readers to write “their” opinions about a particular subject or event. News sites just report what happened without any opinion on it. These are not news sites people. They are blogs. Info or any other host of a blog site has the right to say or opinionate about whatever. Its the readers of these blogs responsibility to differentiate between actual facts, and opinions of the writers…
Also, who cares what 50 thinks?? I saw his video of his event, with him putting his arm around everybody. He’s a smart dude. He’s inadvertently showing some of his enemies that he has the money and power to turn some of their cohorts on his side whenever he wants. All besides the ones that know what’s up with him (Killa, Nas, Fat Joe, etc).

If you really think about it most of these New York artist were not around or in a position of power when 50 came on the scene. I think he still has issues with those who black balled him and trully wants to help those he feel are being slighted by the same individuals. Was he partly responsible for the “mainstream” fall of NY hip hop? Yes but because and I’m only speculating most of the same folks tried to ride his wave into the game the same way they are doing Drake. I think his attitude was like don’t try be cool now when you can benefit from me but when I needed you where were you. I ask one question to everyone would a young NY rapper like Corey Guns be more visible if the NY vets like Jay Z and Puff gave him the same co sign they give Lil wayne or Drake knowing they may not benefit from it? It takes more than a song to support your city. Most of the older guys got exposure by touring with the big names back then and you just don’t see that anymore.

Question, was NY Hip Hop ever united? Since the days of KRS and Mc Shan, there has been division in NYC. Being the “birth place” I think NYC is more competitive, and definitely about showing who is better. Hip Hop to me has always been about proving your worth and rank, what’s wrong with that?

Nightfall Reply:

NY was as united as any other place before the hip hop jumped in mainstream success and the focus moved good south. I remember Songs that featured artists from various areas and crews.Video was appears of other artists and teams showing NY support and working together. It was competitive yes but you still had a basic sense of Local representation.

Other than the “Stop The Violence” movement, there hasn’t been NY unity. When, and who? Big and Raekwon didn’t get along, Nas and Jay didn’t, Kool Mo Dee and LL didn’t, Kool Mo Dee and Busy didn’t, Fat Joe and Jay didn’t, KRS and Roxanne Shauntay didn’t, Def Squad and Hit Squad didn’t when Erick Sermon and Parish Smith had they beef, shit even within Wu, Meth and U-God didn’t get along and that exploded into the whole group turning against Rza. So what unity are you talking about? Even in ancient days, i’ve heard from Grand Master Caz himself that him and Cowboy didn’t get along. If you ask me, I would say that beefing is more the tradition of New York. If you’re looking for unity, you have to look to the Midest, The South, and The West between 88-95.

Don’t make singular situations cast a larger shadow on a whole area. No one said that no one had issues. You can say that for ANY area in hip hop. They all have their beefs. Wu tang? C’mon that’s technically family. The point was that people, as usual, make New York out to have been some hip hop war zone over blowing the point. LL’s “4,3,2,1″ and “Who Shot ya”? Run DMC’s “Down with the Kings”, Smiff and Weissin “Black Trump”,Dj CLue’s “Fantastic 4″, Fat Joe’s “John Blaze”, Symphony 2000….just to name a recent few examples of various teams working together. Not the mention successful east coast tours that have gone down. It’s been as balanced as any other locale.
And I’m sorry if anyone really thinks that its been all peaches and cream in the West and South that’s a large error.
You can say that since the eye has been on NY first and longest that gives it a larger perspective but you have to be balanced.
Danmar Reply:

you’re right…..NY was always divided..there was a few collabos here and there..like Meth and Big/Nas and Raekwon, but for the most part it was divided……..I know i’m not the only person that shed a proverbial tear when Nas and Jay Z became bff….not that i wanted them to beef and hate each other, but they were better when they stood apart..now Nas has become a caricature of his former self and Jay Z is a lyric in a Miley Cyrus song.
What many people, fab included, have failed to realize is that the Ja beef was a legitimate street beef before anything…so when rappers wanna stand up and be like “i’m rocking with Ja, fuck 50″, they’re involving themselves in something that’s over their head….so to quote Papa Wu: that’s not keeping it real, that’s keeping it wrong!

You can’t tell me that Terror Squad and Ruff Ryders, 2 crews that was doing it before 50 blew up were supposed to fall back from reppin’ NY just cuz Ja and 50 had issues? Hell Ja and RR are basically family.
That’s taking it to a silly extreme and using street logic to conveniently justify beefing for no reason.
“50 said it himself the other Hard niggas they come from Yonkers”
Hell I know RR & TS cats that was locked up with Yayo at that time so if it was really over their heads it would have went down like that.

To be fair, he got all these guys to show up at “This is 50 Fest”. Thats the ego boost. But, at the same time, he got a lot of people in the same building showing love, which is good for hip-hop.
Sure there is a plan behind it all, but at the same time 50 with his arm around Jada and dapping up the LOX after the heat involved in their beef is exactly what many people would give another rapper a ton of credit for.
Finally, you gotta respect the grind of the LOX. They will air you out on wax if you come at them wrong (50, Diddy…etc) but they will still break bread if the money is right.

I agree with fab. fif is the most most powerful (not most talented) artist in NY. If he was doing things like 50 fest and let some non g-unit artists get on his albums a couple of years ago it might have encouraged other ny artists to unify like they do in atl and miami. That wouldve been a great look for ny but at the same time fif was trying to establish his and g-units own brand so you can’t completely knock him for that.

Co sign 80% of what was said, people forget 50 has a fanbase, the people who talk sh!t about him didn’t like him from the the beginning because of all the beef.
Most people who critisize Fif only know him from Get Rich or Die tryin, if you’ve been listening to 50 from the mixtapes before the deal then you know wsup. To see 50 where he is right now 6yrs later is some guiness book world of records sh!t.
Even before the release of GRDT Rule fans were praying for 50 to fail, Massacre had more haters, Curtis 50’s “flop” is an average artists success. Curtis is more succesful than anything Rick Ross has put out his entire career.
Fabolous didn’t mean any disrespect from what I’ve read so it is what it is, he just had that conversation on the wrong platform, if it was a barbershop convo keep it in the barbershop. Loso’s Way is still one of the best albums to come out this year so he can get a pass.

I think on this topic Fab should have just kept his mouth shut…some things are better left unsaid and when dealing with someone who feeds off drama, the less amo u give them the better..
that being said, I think the reason 50 is keeping quiet is because he is giving him room to hang himself..you of your own free will decided to talk about 50 and now we are gonna see how far you will go.
Don’t you find it funny how not even his past enemies who were on the show made any public statements regarding the show in a negative light? So I will remain skeptic of someone who was not physically there making the first public stamement and to such detail at that.
I equate this to when you have dudes in the hood who sell drugs..everyone knows its wrong but some people choose to just mind their business…unless they are calling police to report it..feel me?

everything is based on marketing. every decision a nigga makes comes wth the questions is this good or bad for my image and/or how can i maximize the potential of a particular decision. whether its a genuine move is up for debate but just cuz a nigga is business minded dont mean he dont have good intentions. Fab is 100% correct, 50 has always tried to keep himself visable and relevant. He has constantly put out mixtapes b4 his first offical album and in between other albums. No doubt after putting out a couple mitapes recently and not having a great repsonse from the Curtis album and having B4 I Self Destruct pushed back constantly he thought how could I draw attention to myself (apart from reignite an old beef wit Fat Joe) I’ll put on a show. 50 IS A BUSINESS MAN, FULL STOP AND EVERYTHING IS A BUSINESS DECISION, (thats wot i think anyway).

He ant been hot music wise since his 1st cd he’s been a hell of a business man but he’s what JA RULE WAS!!! FAB JUST TELLING THE TRUTH

Fab on point though,to some degree.Facts + opinion= Loso’s Way straight at 50. True,50 built and sustained his career on beef. How much that impact NY Hip Hop division,it’s hard to say for fact. One beef stands out for me,think Dipset for a moment. My opinion Fif prolly one of the reason why Cam will never reconcile with Jim jones and them.
On the other hand Fab tryna blame the blogs for paying attention smacks of hipocrisy and an attempt for damage limitation. If you make comments via a public medium common sense should tell you,it’s bound to make news especially when controversial.

Yup, i like Fab but he opened his mouth before he thought again, lol. Sounds like he is bouncing off the ropes trying to fix whatever he can before Fif gets word of this. Guy above me got it right i believe.
And yes Miss Info you are very fair and accurate as always, this is why u will have longevity in your career. Thx.

I agree wit fab, I would question 50’s motives too if a couple years ago he was beefing with the same people he was on stage wit @ the concert. But I always thought 50 was a snake. Dont ask me y just got that vibe. As far as fab, I always liked him, he’s very underrated. Using twitter to vent… not good tho. Even tho he was tryna get some open dialect going on, he kno 50 lovvveeesss attention. And since fab is not as mainstream as 50 some ppl gon follow up behind 50 becuz he is looked @ to be more “powerful”. But 50 dont hav any allies but G Unit.

Thats what Im sayin!
50 is damned if he do damned if he dont no matter how you try to put it.
Fab needs to be more aware of his words cause right now the media is jumping on any kinda of drama, argument, beef, whatever, and magnifying that shit.
Hell yeah they gonna twist your words fab, what you think! dummy! They could care less, as long as 50 is in another beef shit brings site traffic good & bad!
And who is fab to be calling ANYBODY out anyway? All this nigga does is that r&b shit, what do he do for NYC, let alone Brooklyn? talkin about 50…let that nigga live and grow a pair fab…all your beats is light in the ass…

people are reaching when they think any current rapper will ‘bring New York back’
NYC rap is dead and the only way it can ‘come back’ is with a host of new rappers

I see that alot of commentators on this site blow things WAAAAAAAAY out of proportion. So what that 50 had a damn concert?? Yall act like its the Treaty of Versaiiles. When it comes to NY hip hop unity, it aint heaven or hell. Some are going to beef and some are going to ride together. GET OVER IT! Rappers appeared at 50’s show because………….THEY RAP! Isnt that what rappers do???? Also, BIG DEAL on Fab’s comment. Sometimes, we act as if another person’s opinion is a god damn declaration of nuclear war!

The majority of these guys here be thinking and acting like girls. Thats their problem not yours. Who cares what Fab said to 50. These dudes are gonna handle it their way. stop trying to take sides. As for lyricism fAB can eat up 50. AS FOR MONEY OF COURSE 50. AND WATCH SOMEBODY BRING UP LLOYD BANKS INTO THIS….F cares even about this.. Its funny How 50 talks abour evertybody but when somebody talks about fifty all his female fans get it all “female fans” get all mad…
