Exclusive: Pusha T says his brother Malice inspired his Fear of God

When Pusha previewed Fear of God two weeks ago at our listening session, we sat down and discussed the solo project, his sessions in Kanye West’s Soho “Factory”, getting beats from Tyler The Creator, and whether there will be another Clipse album….In this clip, Pusha opened up about how his brother Malice inspired Fear of God‘s title, even though he declined to participate in it.
“I was ready to start a new album, after Til the Casket Drops. Malice said “Nah I can’t right now.” I was like, ‘You sure, you serious?’ He said ‘I’m just gonna finish up this book, I want to get these thoughts out’….so when I started writing the first thing for Fear of God, it scared the hell outta me. My brother’s not there. Reality set in so quick, like after bar 4. (You felt alone…) Yeah.”
“My brother’s the realest. First of all, what you don’t realize is, him doing this book [Wretched, Pitiful, Poor Blind & Naked] is just him slapping me again, telling me how much greater he is than me. ‘Cause he knows I could never write a book, I can’t do that. This book is the ultimate stunt…He’s always been the one in the verse that dug a little bit deeper. He’s always been that guy, he’s always had that perspective….that’s the amazing dynamic of the Clipse.”

Great chip. Like seeing reporter/artist interviews where the respect/friendship is apparent while not being ass kissing.
Excellent as usual.

Thank you : ) Mikey has some more clips from our chat in the chamber. I didn’t want folks to feel overloaded with pusha stuff so I guess we’ll post later.

Great clip. Some of these artists seem to be much more open and personable wth Miss Info than a lot of other media folks. It seems natural that while doing press for a mixtape/album, you get used to giving the same answers over and over, but it’s nice to see an artist actually reflect on a question and give an honest answer instead of just reciting whatever their PR team gives them.

I don’t know M….yall sitting kind of close there….let me guess, it was ” all for the shot ” though right?

um, no, I wanted to sit super close so he would notice my perfume. Come on, get real. If I was desperate to hit on someone, don’t you think I’d do it….off camera?

I ordered the book as well.
Clipse’s lyrics are real deep, they have been part of my top5 since I listened the first “Got It For Cheap” mixtape.

Its Funny That Pusha is saying that about his brother because ive always prefered pusha over malice.

I can’t help but appreciate how close Push and Mal are. Even as brothers, the industry will still fuck with you and we’ve seen how close groups break up after years.
