Gucci Mane leaves Fulton County Jail: “I am now a stronger and better person…” (Updated with video)
Posted by Miss Info under Crime , Crony-ism , Exclusives , Photos , Quotes[58] Comments
Gucci Mane was released from Fulton County Jail at around 12:15am. He still has to fulfill the community service that he owes the state, but he was released much earlier than his one-year sentence dictated, presumably for good behavior. Now he’s free to perform at SummerJam here in NYC on June 6th, and there’s a couple other big appearances that we’ll see him at too ; )
Here’s an excerpt from the statement that Gucci read as he stood outside the jail:
“…my incarceration also came at a pivotal point in my career, just as my first major label album was dropping. I was forced to miss what should have been one of the proudest moments of my life. This is something that I will make sure never happens again. My time in jail was trying, but I grew from it and am now a stronger and better person. I want to continue on a positive track and truly focus on being a role model to my fans and my community. I am looking towards the future with a newfound respect and appreciation for the law and a strong dedication to my music and my career.
With that in mind, I have already begun to make positive strides towards the future. I have launched a new label, 1017 Brick Squad Records in affiliation with Asylum/Warner Bros Records, and I am working with a new team.”
UPDATE: watch video of Gucci’s post-release press conference (thanks to Thaddeus/ExclusiveAccess) after the jump….
Read the full statement and see more photos after the jump….
Here is Gucci Mane’s full statement….
“First and foremost I would like to thank my legal counsel Dwight Thomas and Michael Holmes for their excellent representation, as well as my label Asylum and Warner Brothers Records for sticking with me through my situation and helping me through my time behind bars. Most importantly, I want to thank all of my fans for their support while I have been away. Your letters and your words of encouragement helped me make it through. None of my success would be possible without you.
I have made some mistakes in my life that have hurt a lot of people who care about me. I have worked very hard to get past them, but those mistakes have brought me to where I am today, and they will not be repeated. These past six months have been a difficult time but fortunately I have learned a great deal from my experience. I was able to do a great deal of soul searching; I am coming out with a new attitude towards life.
Unfortunately, my incarceration also came at a pivotal point in my career, just as my first major label album was dropping.
I have launched a new label, 1017 Brick Squad Records in affiliation with Asylum/Warner Bros Records, and I am working with a new team.
I am looking forward to getting back to business and to start making hits. I am extremely excited about my new album, The Appeal, which will be dropping at the end of the summer. Over the course of 2010, 1017 Brick Squad records will also be releasing albums from my artist Wacka Flocka Flame as well as my group Brick Squad, which features Wacka, OJ Da Juiceman and myself. In July, I will be heading out on a nationwide tour, hitting venues across the country and continuing the movement.”

A crowd of media were waiting outside the processing area…
DJ Holiday and Shawty Lo were on hand outside…Waka Flocka joined them later.

Is there an odder sentence in the entire sea of endless possibilities we call the English language than “Gucci Mane speaks”? Methinks not…
One.

I think you should put the tag “bad for hip hop” on this.lol

aww. mean.

It just seems like this guy doesn’t know how to stay out of jail. And as entertaining as he is (cause to me he is an entertainer and not a rapper), I would hate to see him land back in the same place. But something tells me we’ll see him back in the lock up sometime in the future.

you haters never go away, you knew this post was about gucci (someone yall dont like) so why come in a post made about him? i swear you haters spend more time commentin on his post more then people yall actually like.

NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! GO BACK!!!! GO BACK!!!!!!
lol you can tell he rehearsed that speech. I refuse to believe gucci mane can read.
May 12th, 2010 at 2:15 am
why does your hatred run so deep? I can understand not liking someone’s music, or even not caring for their personality. But on a regular person to person level, do you really want someone to go back to jail after they’ve served the time sentenced by a judge? Its just rap, fyi.

I’m always suspicious of rappers who go to jail and end up getting out way early, for good behavior, when you hear about regular people going to jail, and it’s the exact opposite. They start off with a relatively light sentence, then they have to stab somebody, probably to avoid becoming someone’s bitch, and the next thing you know they’re locked up for 20 – byron crawford
it’s true i thought gucci was a thug mane good behavior these dudes is the rap game is fake gangstas perpetrating the fraud
go back to jail gucci you can’t rap for shit anyways
May 12th, 2010 at 6:50 am
He didn’t exactly serve the time sentenced but I agree with you Info. I just hope dude decides to leave the rap game for religious reasons or something lol.

May 12th, 2010 at 9:42 am
I am glad to see Gucci the ENTERTAINER home. Just do your community service and quit doing drugs and you’ll be good. The FANS are expecting BIG things out of you, so don’t fail us now. If he is truly the BOSS MAN, than he will grow up and get his CEO on.
May 12th, 2010 at 10:16 am
He introduced Wack Flocka Flame and OJ Da Joomayne to the world, which is a crime against humanity.
Dudes are doing jail time for buzz just like getting shot was the thing to do after 50 blew up. Sell a few “Free ____” shirts, recoup some money, and you keep your buzz. Actual content has taken a backseat to D.N.A.
May 12th, 2010 at 10:24 am
ey gucci mane look like a positive new man now…stop hatin..i know he think he about to take over the rap game and stuff but cam’ron and vado bout 2 do that…i hope gucci and cam make more songs and shoot some videos now
May 12th, 2010 at 10:50 am
nice hair cut i thought u went to jail
May 12th, 2010 at 11:40 am
I wanna focus on being a role model… that’s why my label is called Brick Squad. I’m feeling Gucci, but why do rappers get a supreme hypocrite pass. And don’t even bother disputing this, anyone who can’t dig this is either drinking the kool-aid or in the industry benefiting off this tom-foolery. Out.
May 12th, 2010 at 12:38 pm
he’ll be back in jail before summer jam
May 12th, 2010 at 1:21 pm

May 12th, 2010 at 3:33 pm
Who in their rite minds want 2 stay in jail any longer than they have 2? If someone can get time off their sentence 4 good behavior then by all means take advantage of that, cause with all the time he wastin in jail, he’s losin not only that, but money as well. And since u wishin 4 him 2 go back 2 jail, why don’t u go to jail and see if yo ass don’t be beggin 2 get out!!
May 12th, 2010 at 4:02 pm
lmao o shit that was a good 1 @Smokin
May 12th, 2010 at 4:19 pm
yea the music industry was in dire need of the SUBSTANCE in Gucci Mane’s records
May 12th, 2010 at 4:20 pm
But for a dude to claim to be a thug, always in “the trap”, and repping a gang, I’m sure he had no problem being in jail, right? With the life he claims to live, he should be prepaired for the consequences. You can’t claim to be Billy Badass when you’re out in the world, but then you get knocked and you wanna be a role model.
May 12th, 2010 at 4:33 pm

This hilarity in all of this is that the south is acting like Gucci can carry them on his back! I wont lie and say he wasnt drifting mainstream. He was. However!! He’s hot hot garbage with a few nice lines, a dope beat and a catchy hook. Shawty LO standing around like the damn wingman. SMH… And in the other corner we have the likes of TI and Jeezy… Hmmm… Wrong team LO. I hope Gucci does his thang but he is NOT the future of the south. All this hype for him to come home is overrated.
