Minutes before Big Sean released four brand new songs on the Internet this past Friday (Sept 12), Miss Info stopped by the Def Jam offices to catch up with Detroit’s very own.

In anticipation for his upcoming album, Sean said he needed to share what he has been working on for the past months. While he wouldn’t reveal any working titles or possible release dates, the newest artist on Roc Nation Management wants to get his next album out by the year’s end.

“We got so much music but the four songs are just the very tip of the iceberg. We did the new deal with Roc Nation for management, but it’s still G.O.O.D. don’t get that confused,” says Big Sean of his new album and Roc Nation deal. “I get to kick with with Jay Brown and Jay Z and play them my music. That’s priceless to sit down with them, along with Ye.”

Big Sean also talked about what it was like to watch the events of Ferguson unfold while recording new music with Kanye and the G.O.O.D. Music family in Mexico. He recalls watching the footage of the riots with Kanye by his side.

“I rap about it on “4th Quarter” — about how we was in Mexico, about how we saw Ferguson. I was with [Kanye]. Me and Ye were looking at the footage of the riots in St. Louis,” says Big Sean. “We just sat there and stopped — we were blown away. It was really sad but good to see people not accept it.”

Big Sean on his upcoming album:

“The feel is “going for blood.” It’s like “I’m not fucking around,” This is that Detroit snappin’ off on ’em. At the same time I still like to do concepts. I’m conceptful, and we just applied all of that. I think we just wanted to give them that vibe. That’s where it is for me now in rap.”
